He has started pre-season on fire. I think the gap between him and Olise is now a lot closer. I think he is staking a proper claim for a starting role.

He missed a whole season of experience because of Roy/injury. In pre-season he looks to have the potential to be the real deal, great individual goal yesterday and he tracks back. When Olise first started playing for us he was quite raw at times and poor in tracking back, notwithstanding it was clear he had stuff in his locker that others only dream about. This is an interesting situation for Olie assuming we sign Saar. I would put him above Ayew, Edouard and Schlupp as it stands, so why would we sell him?

I don't think JRS is in the same bracket as Olise. I would love to see him push on and make it for us, but my gut feeling is he'll end up being a solid Championship-level winger, or possibly a squad player for a bottom-half PL team. If we do sign Sarr then I'd take the £12 million Southampton are rumoured to have offered with a sell-on clause in case he does make it to a higher level. Hopefully he proves me wrong though and becomes a star for us.

Terrible click bait reporting. They don't mention he was out injured for a large part of the season. It looks like he does want to leave which is a pity but these days players all have the power.

Not surprised with that Widnes based website, awful. He's not gone with the squad to the States, agree with you, looks like he's off, pity.

I think people misunderstood my original post and I agree with a lot people are saying. He is not ready for EPL with us so it is in everybody's interest that he leaves on loan to see how he does. The question is where championship or Southampton? Secondly how do we protect our asset and get best return. In my view this may be to Southampton as they will play in EPL. This gives us best indication if he will make it however it may be a step too far too quickly. Let him make decision its his career. If he goes to championship there is likely to be no option to buy. Southampton seem to want an option to buy. My logic is Southampton are likely to be relegation contenders. So my original post suggested an obligation to buy at a high figure if they were not. Even if they survive this season they may still be relegation contenders for a couple of seasons so it makes sense to me to have a return route if we want if this were to happen. This protects both us and player. Southampton meanwhile will have to think seriously about the potential cost - purchase then subsequent relegation. This may dampen their interest but will avoid unsettling him further Edited by Palace in the Blood (31 Jul 2024 11.33am)

Maybe we will learn from the Jake obrien saga. Loan or have a buy back clause.

From JRS's perspective we have brought in potentailly 2 players in Kamada and probably Sarr who are more likely to occupy Olise's old position.

I think the only doubts about him are physical and that's solvable via aging and the gym. My prediction is that this guy will be a regular Premiership player, it's just which club it's with.
