To my mind, if Guehi goes which is likely, Lerma is one of the 1st choice back 3 along with Andersen and probably Richards, as well as a great option to cover for either Wharton or Doucoure in the defensive midfield roles. He must not leave

He must not leave Hopefully, he won't. As for 1st choice CB, no chance. You do know we have brought in Riad, so, if still playing a back 3, it would be: Riad/Andersen/Richards. That will leave Lerma to do what he's best at, in the midfield. As a poster pointed out earlier in the thread, we ideally need 2 players for every position. Lerma, Wharton, Hughes & Doucoure ain't bad cover for the 2 central midfield positions.
