3. Denmark 1986 This set the benchmark when introduced by Hummel in 1986 for Denmark. This is a cult classic as worn by Michael Laudrup et al. It lost its fizz a little being used by Southampton, Coventry, Aston Villa at the time, but was used again by Southampton last season.

2. Holland 1988 Yes this was an Adidas template copied by others including Germany and Russia, but I think it was first used by Holland. Maybe it was because of the great team they had at that time, but to me it has everything. I believe that replicas of this shirt are purchased daily. Edited by Brasilian Eagle (19 Jun 2024 5.54pm)

1. Germany 1990 We had never seen anything like it before when this burst onto the scene at the 1990 World Cup. A now classic shirt made by Adidas with the remarkable design of the German flag represented on the shirt.

The best shirts go from 1964 to 74. No cr*p or graffiti on them - your colours are like your flag, do we want yellow nike ticks on the union jack, some zig zags to cheer up the St George's cross, pixilated tricolours, two-tone dragons and eagles? No. This is what kits should look like ...

My favourite too, from my favourite World Cup, England actually got knocked out with three wins and two draws, not on penalties either!!
