Well, we've already won a cup, so Europe it is. It was a great day out after losing the FA Cup, but it isn't enough. I'd take an FA Cup win over Europe any day, but Europe would be a progression in terms of the club's future. I know everyone is optimistic, but I can't see us getting further than the Conference League. Getting in the Europa would be a major achievement. I still want some silverware in the cabinet. Hell, even a League cup would do for now.

I can’t count Samsungspur in the intertoto cup in a half empty stadium in July, it was basically just a s*** pre season friendly. When I was a kid I used to see our top sides playing famous old European names like St Etienne, Lokomotive Liepsig, Hadjuk Split, Red Star Belgrade, Dinamo Dresden, Eintract Frankfurt, Hamburg with Keegan, Borussia Monchengladbach etc etc and I’ve always just wanted a couple of European nights at Selhurst to say I’ve done it

Form over the last seven matches is League and Cups winning. Have to hope that Oliver Glasner motivates our treasures to stay for next season and enjoy their football. We start the season with two (Women and Under 21) cups in the display cabinet. What would be the odds offered for a double or treble?

I’m with you eagleman, it was a special day for the 33,000 of us who were there, especially coming so quick after the heartbreak of the year before I’ve seen palace play in FA Cup finals which was my dream as a kid, especially 1990 at the old Wembley when it still mattered, so I’d love to get into Europe just to see a bit of competitive European football at selhurst even if we get knocked out early, I saw us play samsunspur in the intertoto cup in July 98 but can’t bring myself to count that as having seen palace play in Europe

FA cup first then Europe the following season Ideally this. So we've got another season to build the squad depth. But we don't know how long we'll keep this team together so need to go for broke really. Qualifying for, dare I say, the Champions League, would get them all to stick around for another year. So, I've changed my mind. CL qualification, and then FA cup year 2!

Optimism is rife on HOL at the moment. I've seen a number of posts along the lines of: "we could push on next season and win a cup or qualify for Europe". If you had to choose one or the other to come to fruition, which would it be? No one will look back in 30 years and say remember when we finished 6th and qualified for the Europa league. Us fans want trophies not the outside possibility of one a year later. For me its the FA Cup (and winning that qualifies for Europe anyway!

The FA Cup, without replays, only entails an extra 5 games to get to the final ( not counting the 3rd round as that is a given). Europe would immediately entail 6 games, and more if successful. Personally I would be concerned about the commitments that Europe would bring both in matches, travel and added injury "opportunities". I can live without it. But as already mentioned an FA CUP win qualify us for Europe - so damned if you do damned if you don't.

But is still a limited tournament that the teams that are not quite good enough enter, the League and FA cup are open tournaments that all enter, 12 games to reach the Quarter finals, of the Europa league, not worth it good point, back in the day the Europeran Cup only had champions and the UEFA Cup had the next four down - there was a school of thought that the UEFA Cup was harder to win - most of the giants were in it and up for it unlike the Europa League, and the Conference League is even more mickey mouse than the old Cup Winners' Cup, though I wouldn't get too snobby about it as a humble Palace fan. I'd have to say Cup and not just because it qualifies us for Europe, it would stop opposing supporters singing "f*ck all, you've never won f*ck all...".

Well by my reckoning, a cup double would be about 1,700-1, a league plus 1 cup double would be about 14,400-1 and a treble would be about 590,000-1. This on the basis that we are currently 350-1 to win the PL next season and on my guestimate that we would be 40-1 for each of the cups. Frankly I've no idea what cup winning odds tend to be in reality. The odds for the cups don't appear to have been set yet in any case, so I suspect that if you walked into or contacted a bookie today, they would 'negotiate' a price for a double or treble and furthermore it would be less generous than 'accumulated' odds might be.

The opportunity to play those sort of fixtures shouldn't be sniffed at!
