One word.....Glasner Good business strategy. Buying earlier means probably pay less, prices towards the end of the window are likely to be higher as the selling club won't have time to sign a replacement plus by that time if we have sold one or two of our stars for a hefty profit other clubs may ask for more because they know we have money to burn. Also good for the team as well as the new players get a full pre-season with the existing squad.

This lad looks the business, Lazio don't want to lose him which is a good sign. If we can retain Olise and Eze then I'll be super excited for next season. Getting the new boys in early so the team can gel is great.

If the club really wants top ten, or even European competition then It’s great that we are already improving the squad, it doesn’t mean we sell anyone, and if we did it would only mean there are more to come in yet.

Couldn't agree more. Look at the state of us when we had all those injuries. Makes perfect sense to get more good quality bodies in to keep things balanced when injuries happen to the big hitters. Also all the big boys freshen things up around the 60min mark and were never able to do that. Now we could end up with a really solid 5 on the bench. This helps the main bodies get a better rest once they have done the business keeping them from getting so many knocks and injuries.

These early signings and also Dougie’s retention by Glasner are meant to demonstrate to both Eze and Olise that the club is proactively moving in the right direction. Neither of these lads are intimidated by competition but showing them that there are others including Wharton now who could assist them achieve bigger career aspirations with their individual contribution and load management sharing. Long term contracts really mean nothing but I expect another contract extension with additional salary (release clause adjustments if agreeable) to be offered for the commitment of the players to a further year and reevaluation where the club is in 12 months time!

There’s some good Japanese players around at the moment, their national team are always decent to watch at world cups. He’ll do for me Edited by monkey (31 May 2024 3.59pm)

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Fabrizio Romano reporting done deal bar the actual paperwork
Edited by HKOwen (03 Jun 2024 9.02am) I put it in another thread but if Riad and Kamada are in soon, plus any others, I think it really bodes well for us in terms of having transfer business sorted early on. Represents a clear strategy and intent for next season as far as I'm concerned. Almost unnervingly unPalace as is my optimism for next season! COYP, let's hope this is very much the new dawn and thanks for posting HKO (may well be 'Palace' and not 'Transfer' talk soon...).
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
