It was difficult to tell when the New Dr Who ended and Eurovision began. As for diversity I feel the white hetrosexual middle aged man was under represented. Just watch the old Pertwee episodes. The world made some sense then and the most gay TV got was John Inman, Larry Grason and Charles Hawtrey. Russel T Davies has been given the freedom to make the show in his own image, and that was a very bad idea. I guess they were desperate after the previous female led pile of crap failed miserably.

The BBC effectively sold Doctor Who to Disney. The problem they will find is that whilst the Americans have deep pockets they also have little patience. The BBC can afford to keep making programs that no one watches Disney can't. So what matters is how Disney's customers worldwide view the new show. If they love it then the BBC is off the hook. If the silence is deafening then I think the Disney will be making changes whether the BBC likes it or not. Time will tell (geddit).

I actually did last week, they now seem clunky with poor acting, but compared to the as you put it ‘a pile of dumbed down moronic garbage’ and with bbc box ticking at its finest that it’s turned into now, it was fantastic and Jon Pertwee would be turning in his grave bless him if he’d seen the latest two episodes

Our entry was sleazy and tasteless. I'm glad it did badly. Eurovision is camp but tries to be fun. It has been hijacked by gays to a large extent, like much of entertainment, but overly sexual performances and virtue signalling are not appealing to the majority of all demographics. In the end, it is not a real competition. It is clearly fixed. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (13 May 2024 11.34am) I see that the EU has put in a formal complaint to the EBU because the blue EU flag was not allowed to be shown in the auditorium; only the contestants flags (and the multicoloured gender flags were allowed). I can remember when the ‘EU’ was just a trade block. I can also remember when the Eurovision Song Contest was just a song contest…
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |

I expect this relates to that. I know as I had an EU scholarship for several years.

I know as I had an EU scholarship for several years. I couldn’t see that the EU is involved; funding is via the 5 big individual European broadcasters, the host city and the host broadcaster (plus ticket sales and merchandise). So, the EU doesn’t seem to be involved; just trying to spread its influence by using somebody else’s efforts.

Nice to see the eu getting their corrupted frilly shreddies in a twist because their rag was banned from being flown. The eu isn't involved with Eurovision funding, but they must want any reflected glory should a country that is foolishly a member of their bloc winning the bloody thing.

What we have basically got is unwatchable woke garbage with high production values, much like Star Trek Discovery. You will get a whole load of noisy people on the internet praising the shows and condemning the 'haters' but they are either paid or have an agenda.

I haven't watched it so it would be wrong of me to criticise the show. However Disney will keep a close eye on the streaming numbers if they are what they hope then all is well. As the British public vote in the Eurovision showed the public don't always react the way that social media think it should.
