Andersen is a strong candidate and I agree with the sentiment that he should be made club captain next season.

Some of the team have really shone under Ollie's guidance so Wharton, Hughes and Mateta are contenders, but then all our players have noticeably improved recently. It goes without saying that Olise and Eze are star performers, but long periods of injury hamper their claim for season long credit.

But my vote for player of the SEASON goes to Jordan Ayew. He has fought relentlessly for Roy, and now Ollie, in just about every game we've played and, in my view, his impact often goes unnoticed. Despite being knocked about excessively, he hasn't succumbed to serious injury and he was spitting daggers at being pulled off against Newcastle. I like his attitude and determination to succeed for the club. Just wish he would smile now and again.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

No one has shone for the entire season that is for sure! There were early contenders like Ayew under Roy and JP towards the end of the season! Based on impact and talent both Olise and Wharton have had the biggest impact but i think despite a very disappointing effort towards the end of Roy’s reign Anderson would get my vote especially if he keeps his leadership qualities going when the club clearly had none on the pitch for most of the season!!

And that is the conundrum. For me, it's a very close call between Andersen and Lerma as the two players who have been consistently good for most but not all of the season so far. Anderson's leadership is coming to the fore, but ultimately, I'm going for Lerma, without whom we would have been deep in the proverbial.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.
