Indeed, but presumably better spent on identifying social issues in Scotland rather than the Pacific, or are there no social issues in Scotland?

Exactly.

I know a number of university researchers they maybe be intelligent but unbiased they are not. They are only interested in pursing research that pushes their left wing agenda.

I don't shock very often but I was surprised at the blatant personal bias in their work and worse the acceptance of it by their university body.

I naively thought research had to be backed up with facts but unless it is science apparently not.

A Researcher came onto this site about women In professional sport the questionnaire was completely skewed on the assumption that there should be more of it and they should be paid more.

I actually complained to the university and pointed how bias the questions and assumptions were and that it was not good research.

Nothing happened of course.

By the way I have nothing against women in sport but don't ask me to complete a questionnaire where the only options are to say it's great and pay them more. A balanced research would also point out that not everybody cares.

Academic research is full of this kind of stuff. It's all a game to get more research money.
Currently, just like Hollywood and TV scripts, papers, books and articles are vetted, by a computer program, for certain words and concepts. If it does not contain a certain percentage of them, it will not see the light of day. Similar for applications for research funding. I couldn't tell you the current buzz words as I left academia a few years ago. When I left every paper was about gender and identity. It will have moved on now.
I remember going to reading of a paper where a professor started shouting about how women had no power in England in the 1580s. She was not best pleased when I pointed out that the first citizen of England, The Queen - Elizabeth I was a woman and had in fact succeeded a woman as Queen: two even if you count the one that didn't last long. I suggested she look at some Catholic country like Spain or France.

Why do you think there is any intention to change the life of a working class Scottish family? I don’t know what the intended outcome is and I sure you don’t either, so knowing it in advance is an impossibility. You are making Mail inspired assumptions.

I would expect that there were at least two researchers working to different briefs on the same subject, each drawing out the various attitudes so that comparisons can be made. I certainly don’t know and nor do you.

That's the Mail's spin on the research. I suspect there is rather more involved than that. It might just involve how to avoid people becoming homeless in the first place, through studying the origins of prejudice and how it has transferred into modern life. I am stretching and guessing of course but we don't know and I prefer to leave things to those who do.

Stretching? A doubles team of Twizzle and Ping the Elastic Man couldn't reach that one.
However, in the interest of scientific enquiry, I am prepared to undertake several years research into the effects of getting hog-whimpering drunk in exotic locations around the world. To ensure intellectual rigour and objectivity I'll take a few friends so this research will not be cheap but the results could be anything you like.

You are regurgitating commonly held cynical preconceptions. Do you have any actual evidence that decisions are being made by computer?

Not that someone has written a programme to help them identify things that might help them make a decision?

Why the anti-Mail bias? You do know it's Donald Trump's favourite paper, don't you? If that's not enough proof of it's credibility then it's hard to know what would be.

Good luck with getting the funding.

There normally has to be rather more point than that but maybe you can find an idiot with deep pockets. Try writing to Northcliffe House 2 Derry Street London W8 5TT. I am sure they would listen

My cynicism about the Mail started decades ago when it became a tabloid and my friend started working for it. He gave me a lot of information about the attitudes and motivations of the owners.

It’s not a newspaper. It’s propaganda dressed up as news.
