If we do go for this fella, it has to be for pretty much the same wage at West Ham.

Need to get better about throwing money at the bench lovers

Unfortunately I think there very much is a market of players who will happily warm a PL bench, so long as they receive a PL wage.

Can become unstuck with a few too many of them, as we know.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

The problem being, is this guy isn't good enough to be a starter.

And if he is going to be sat on the bench for 99% of the time, I'd rather we used one of our academy prospects to do that.

I don't think that role exists - There isn't anyone in our squad that is even Championship standard that has spent 99% of their season on the bench. Tomkins is the closest one and it's getting laughable how many players Glasner would rather play out of position than play Tomkins so I'd argue he isn't Championship standard.

Far more of the academy (any of them?) need to be demonstrating that they can play well out on loan in League 1, let alone the Championship, than they currently are.

If he can play either left or right, then at the right price he could be a valuable addition.

Yes, he is available on a free, falling out with him and Moyes, he has only started 4 premier league games, although he hasn't had any injuries

According to click bait we have lost interest, so why?

My theory. When Glasner came in it made sense. He is a utility player not happy at West Ham.

However I think things have changed for the better.

- West Ham want to keep him and have offered a new contract, unlike Arsenal and Rob Holding, so presumably if we sign him his wages will be high.

- Clyne and Ward have played well under Glasner and seem happy to be squad players so I think the urgency for another utility player has gone away.

- Johnson has never been a starter at West Ham and never played 20 games in a season so just how good is he? Could he replace one of our first team? Probably not, so we would be paying big wages for a bench warmer when Clyne and Ward can also do a job. I forgot to mention Lermer who has also shown us he can play centre half.

We are about to sign a centre half so if Guehi does go that position is covered. Holding maybe fit for the start of the season and will be fine in a back 3 as cover.

So the only position we really lack cover for is a Left Wing Back and we could do with someone competing against Mitchell rather than a backup bench warmer.

So my guess is that the deal no longer makes sense and we are looking for a specialist left wing back to compete with Mitchell.

If we sign Johnson he will be fine but hopefully we are now looking for better.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.
