The plan appears to have been to start the process of easing OG and his team in to stat pre-season Take time to get the deal in place and to line things up, all with outgoing management knowledge and understanding. Roy's place as holding pattern and the club ignoring the complaints and media pressure then makes sense and Roy and Ray can leave with grace leaving the club still in this league and a hopefully bright future.

Problem: Roy's health went into decline and there were problems on the field. The plan had to be rushed through.

Any plan scheduled to take months but is hastened through exigency to weeks will have unforeseen issues. All I am saying is expect problems to the end of the season; and don't expect a miraculous turnaround.

Should still win tomorrow though.

I actually wonder how far the discussions re next season had gone in reality? Interestingly, only last week Glasner made comments about his meetings/interviews with Parish and Freedman (the former in London). It didn't suggest to me that they actually knew each other well or that anything firm was in place vis a vis the summer. Maybe it was more that he was still under active consideration along with a number of others - like the ex Wolves manager who was seen at SP several time in the autumn.
Anyway, it doesn't really matter aside from being of interest. He is here now along with his significant coaching team; good luck to him and hope it starts well tomorrow.

I know from another thread that one or two will have seen the new manager's first interview. What did I make of it?

1. It reassured me.
2. It was good to learn that the club have been talking with him since the Autumn with a view to starting next season.
3. Loved his take on the reason to play football is to score goals!
4. Big on togetherness and mutual support
5. Intends us to play the same way whether we're at home or away, albeit (reading between the lines) allowing for some tweaks depending on the opposition.

Will be interesting to see how we set up and perform on Saturday.

I have watched the interview twice and thought about what OG said.

Points 3 and 4 above comes across as simplistic, but very important to OG.

I wonder if OG would have made the same decision on substitution of Lerma for Edouard at Everton. Palace did not push forward as much and were duly punished by Everton, who by contrast brought on an Onana who scored. I believe that OG would have kept the attacking pressure on to seek a second goal.

The team spirit aspect is also important, and from the initial filmed training session and MG comments in his interview, that already is getting through to the players. The attitude of what can I do to assist my team mate when they have the ball certainly came through from the training.

Finally, it was nice to hear OG answer questions more directly. When he did not know something he said so.

My initial feeling is one of quiet optimism.

I for one am not expecting to start the season with Anderson,Guehi,Eze and Olise all in our ranks.Possibly only two.

I guess Guehi will be sold if decent offer comes in. He has only 2 years left on his contract, his value will only decline nearer the end of his contract. Eze and Olise signed extensions last summer, so doubt they will be sold this summer.

Looking forward to it. Also, just to say, I enjoyed the two videos on the club website. The Walk and Talk intro to Selhurst and the first training session.

I can't help feeling excited about what's in store for us.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Won't be live, especially with their darling ETH from Manure at 13.15. Same as the bbc, everything is manure 1st, others 'wait your turn'.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I thought that also I am a bit nervous about the summer. The possibility he ma not see eye to eye with parish or the fact he may get a big job offer and be taken from us

Wilf went from 75M to nothing inside 2 years. There are other major benefits he brought to the table but we can’t repeat that scenario! Olise will be gone sooner or later (not because he isn’t fully committed) but it’s a FACT of footballing life these days.

Soule and Clarke and 10-15M looks good value to me!

I think OG anticipates the need to break a few eggs to make us a better more sustainable club!

Wilf never was 75m you are making up a figure.

A player is worth what people are willing to pay for them and he had 0 official offers from any club (If you listen to rumors a couple of clubs was willing to pay max 40m)

Olise has a release clause again based of the rumors it's not a big one either around 50-60m.

The other thing to take into account with the star players they have sell on fees which are around 20-25%.

I disagree. BBC yes but Sky are equally obsequious to Liverpool

I've just watched Oliver's first pre-match press conference and given the abysmal level of questions put to him, he handled it very well.

He admitted he's got no magic wand so wee can't expect to see a great deal of difference in how we play tomorrow. What we can expect though, is to see him roaming around the technical area with a fair amount of energy. He's been told to be careful not to do an 'Arteta' when we score. He also said we shouldn't expect to see Adam Wharton having grown significantly, which amused me. He confirmed also he doesn't like a lot of sideways and back passing, sounded like he wouldn't like to see us defending a 1-0 lead, but rather going all out attack again.

He really does feel and sound like a breath of fresh air.

yes making all the right noises and there have been many games this season where the only strategy seems to be to run the clock down, especially if we manage to nick a goal.

However, as Mike Tyson says everyone has a plan until they get hit on the nose (or was it chin?)!
