I can’t say I’ll be sorry to hopefully see an end to Roy ball but I think he’s earned our thanks and hope he enjoys relaxing until somebody calls for him to save the day.

Apparently he’s left his boots at the training ground for when he comes back in January next year.

We can only express gratitude to Roy for the way he has managed the club - a total class act throughout - in a very unforgiving environment, Roy's values and principles were admired by all! I hope the fans can say "Thank You" in a PDA at some point!

Thank you Roy,
I understand your blood test revealed it to be "Red n Blue".
No surprise there.
Enjoy a lengthy relaxation with Mrs H.
Love from Coulsdon

It's rare for things to work out for Palace but given the situation Roy stepping down like this is the best outcome possible.

Thank you for your service Roy and all the best in the future.

Up the Palace.

Not only for his undeterred service to Palace but for football as a whole. How about naming a stand after a true Palace hero?

I suppose he could always come back in March if it doesn’t work out with Glasner……

I think this has been a pretty shabby chapter in our history, with Glasner's appointment leaking out early.

The fans who shouted abuse at Roy are not the kind of people we want supporting our club. He is a gent and respected throughout football and the media. They are nobodies.

Let's hope that our new guy lives up to his billing, since we are apparently getting someone that is too good for us.

Only results will do now, but I suspect they won't come until we get some quality back on the field.

For the sake of his health I'm glad Roy has listened to his body and his doctor. Time to call it a day, and need to find a new less stressful hobby.
Enjoy your retirement Roy.

It would be disengenuous of me to pretend that I haven't been calling for his head for a couple of months so, from a pure footballing perspective, I'm glad it's over now.

However, it didn't sit right with me to see how toxic it became and the end and I think it's a real shame that he didn't go in the summer on a high.

I hope he recovers very well and we see him back at Selhurst before the end of the season to properly say goodbye.

My sentiments as well. Over his two tenures he has, in the main, done a good job for us, all things being considered.

Yes, indeed.

Well. a sad day but Mr Hodgson leaves gracefully, of course.
To think there were those on here who were telling him to" F*** O**": unbelievable.

Roy shows them the meaning of 'class'.

Thanks Roy.

A Palace fan, a gentleman. Thanks for everything.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know exactly what happened to Roy on the training pitch and then what the hospital said was wrong with him?
I am assuming it was nearly all derived from stress, but it would be good to know.
Whatever it was, I hope he is making a good recovery and is convalescing well at home.
