After conceding 9 goals in the last 3 games, the defence will have been working with their new ex Serie-A defensive coach on defending crosses, set pieces, keeping a better shape. What’s that? Oh it’s still Ray & Paddy. In that case we’ll be leaking at the back like the Titanic. It’s on our young stars up front to keep scoring. Could be 3-3.

There's something about the goalkeeping situation that doesn't feel right. I don't think they are in genuine competition. Johnstone signed a new deal as part of assuring a good fee for him I think. And if we sold him for £10-15m that's good financial business. So it will be Henderson tomorrow in goal. Clyne to come in for Richards. I don't anticipate Munoz starting. After that, same starters as v. Sheffield United should Eze and Olise be fit.

Yes. That you can't rely on history when guessing football results. Too true, a perfect example of that was in 1990. Liverpool 9 C Palace 0. Above games in the league. Who bet against Liverpool in our next game in the FA Cup, after all given those two games who would? Liverpool 3 C Palace 4 Edited by PZ Eagle (03 Feb 2024 9.45am)

As per RH Eze going for a scan today so may be a doubt for tomorrow. RH had nice things to say about Wharton in the presser and although he answered the question re the lad playing tomorrow as a possibility, it cane across to me (at least) as being unlikely - more a "he trained yesterday and he's available". I expect him to be on the bench. whether he will come off it is a different matter. Edited by doombear (02 Feb 2024 1.03pm)

Edited by doombear (02 Feb 2024 1.03pm) If, as you quoted Eze, won't be available, who could we put there without unbalancing the 'shape', Ayew with Edouard left? To me, the obvious answer would've been Wharton, but we all know Roy doesn't do 'obvious'.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
