Just remember what happened to Charlton when there fans wanted Curbishley out and where Charlton are now. Not saying I want Hodgson to stay but perhaps until we get a better squad / first 11 then we have at the moment, that he is the only guy to keep us up. Only this summer coming can we get players in that will help keep us up next season and hopefully some of our present younger players may also be pushing for first team starts. We better have a good enough manager coming in if Hodgson does go now as our present 11 isn’t good enough. Then again Everton and Forrest may also get docked points which will help? Tough times ahead and I don’t know if a replacement manager or Hodgson can keep us up?

With the current manager, would a -layer want to come to us (I’m convinced that’s part of the reason Wilf left). And Roy will never play the kids. I’ve had all day to think about this. We have seen the best decade the club has known. But that is our history. Do we really want to watch this shambles any longer. What is the end game? What is the point? I look forward to match days or rather I did. Win, lose or draw, it was a break from work and the day to day hustle and bustle of life but now I seem to have hump more and more and not enjoying it one bit.

I just have to rant and get this off my mind! Apologies…. From a personal perspective, 50 years of being a Palace fan has taught me there will always be huge challenges when you support the red and blue army! Tactically, our heading at set pieces is poor, our throw ons are a joke, and the way we are set up at corners just invites goals! Our recruitment policy is awful. We spent all our summer budget on a GK and teenager with potential. That £50m could have bought 5 good championship players that would have added more depth to the squad. Parish needs to wake up to the reality that unless he acts and changes the mentality of the club…then our new stand will never be built and we will be playing in the lower tiers of football for the foreseeable future

Crikey, Textor must be wondering what he has got involved in. I bet he had a nice easy life before he got into football. I bet he's already made a nice profit on what he originally invested in Palace ... and he expects to make even more? I'm sure they'll all make the effort to turn out for the Emirates because it's the place to be seen at. I was fortunate enough to be beered and pied there once ... the middle tier of the entire stadium seems to be exclusively for corporate entertaining. Edited by Henry of Peckham (21 Jan 2024 12.14am)

Some posters on here rightly assessing that the issue is not Roy. He is just an expendable scapegoat for a management agenda to stay in the PL at the least possible cost whilst convincing the fanbase the club has ambition. IT DOESN'T. No manager will replace Roy that isn't a yes-man for the owners. If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times: what we're seeing year-in-year-out is an agenda NOT to go down and NOT to go up. It's viewed by owners as a pure business and the model is not about trying to compete with top six teams or go down. Odds are that the three teams to go down are already locked in, so there won't be any investment by this band of owners. How many seasons will it take before the masses see the elephant in the room? Now, I can understand the owners wanting to make their money, but I don't like the lies, the deception, the BS given weekly to the Palace fans that there is a glorious vision of a trophy. That's why I envy teams like Brighton. Yes, they may go down trying to get to the top, but at least they're trying, and they're honest about it. I'd rather support a non-EPL team with that desire than a fake.

I haven't heard anyone from Palace talking about the possibilities of winning a trophy for donkeys years, other than the occasional interview throw away line of, "of course a cup run would be nice" You must have significantly better sources - Originally posted by Oddball2021

Roy should go ASAP but the problems have got deeper and are eloquently exposed in these posts and the attached article. The only thing keeping us up are worse teams who are improving and points deductions which may get rescinded or not given. Worse, remember The Championship? You need high quality and massive desire to escape. Relegation would see Olise and probably Eze go. No way could I see the remainder bounce back. I would take Potter in a heartbeat as I have nothing but admiration for what Brighton are doing but would he take us? I would take Cooper. But to be fair to Roy the only reason I am saying he should go is for a new manager bounce and because this bad run means we've lost our way. He's not selecting youth because his job is to keep us up, not our long term future. One last point is we've run out of luck. Remember Roy's second game, the thumping of Leeds 5 1? We were clinging on during the first half when they could have been out of sight. Had we lost would that wonderful run have happened..?

The Brentford win, while obviously welcome, to a certain extent masked the problems which continue to remain. This season we have failed to score in over a third of our games, even our better players have underperformed and we continue to play the same way as if something will miraculously change.
