Sadly, in hindsight we should've sold to Arsenal for c£60M when they were sniffing around two years ago. Loved him as our GOAT but his time with us as a player is over.

“I see the opportunities given to Zaha and the money paid as a waste. Doesn’t take responsibility, always makes excuses.” The Turks will either be at his feet or his throat.

They seem even more fickle than us.

well, we can either take things forwards with some players in their early twenties. or we can watch Zaha sitting in the opposition box , eyes like saucers, hands in the air, and looking for solace from the referee as the action swiftly moves up the pitch and away from him. I don't think he'll be back but I thought it was a really bad choice at the time. They're not renowned for being the most rational or tolerant as is very apparent now. The contract that was reportedly on the table for him was too much IMO but I'd have him back in a heartbeat after watching the lack of quality om show so far this season.

He may be having a miserable time there but at least they are challenging for their league title and are still in the Europa Cup, courtesy of Man U. Here, it's just a relegation battle

I don't think he'd want to return. But if he'd been playing in Edouard's position, he would have scored 10 goals for us by now.

It is obvious his departure left a big hole in our team and I would like to think if he had stayed we would be far away from the relegation situation. I don't know how he feels about staying in Turkey and whether his family have settled in. He realised his ambition to play in Europe but I for one would love him to return to play one more season with us especially as it is possible we shall lose Olise and Eze in the summer. Present performances have shown we miss the skill and goals he brought to the team and we will find it difficult, not to say very expensive, to find his replacement.

No. I wouldn't imagine he would want to come back.

I don't particularly want him back, for a few reasons. Obviously a fantastic player, probably our best ever, but he'll be 32 soon and, given the expense and lack of resale value, it would be a return to short termism. Secondly I don't think he would want to come back. Thirdly I felt that his attempts to repeatedly engineer a move away during his time here were disrespectful and the manner of his exit was poor. Blindsided the club, who thought he was signing a new deal, and the fans. It's a big hole to fill but mainly because we've tried to fill it with Jeffrey Schlupp. Get someone like Jack Clarke in and we'd be laughing. Younger, cheaper and more resale value too.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |
