fantastic website. Swindlehurst was for decades my favourite ever Palace player but... Can Swindlehurst honestly own any white sash kit where Vince Hilaire played in the same team. I don't feel there is a more iconic player/kit thing than Vince.

Ginger, at the bottom of every page on HOL is the 'site map', if you click 'History' then click 'Classic Kits' you'll get every kit we ever had.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

One thing looking at all the kits together that springs to mind is despite things being a bit bleak at the club and on the pitch in the early to mid 80’s, we had some superb kits. And it seems like as things gradually got better on the pitch through the 80’s and into the 90’s, the kits really started to go the other way and deteriorate

Wot, no goalies! They wore kits too. I'll always picture Guaita in his mamby-pamby, oolala and somewhat effeminate all pink strip. Our best ever goalie, John (stonewall) Jackson wore a proper keeper's green woolly jumper. Both classic kits in their own way.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
