I have become allergic to Alcohol. I get very sick after two drinks and have a major hangover for about 4 days. So I no longer drink, to be fair don't miss it. I Wasn't a big drinker anyway. I am also allergic to Red kidney beans so I have to pick them out of Chilli con Carne. Not allergic but if the dish is hot i.e. with Chilli or a curry I get the hiccups to the amusement of my family. Weirdly since I had Covid I now can't face a cup of tea. Before I was drinking 6 - 8 cups a day ??
That happened to me in my early 30s. I too was never a great drinker (4 pints max) but I suddenly realised that a pint or two would make me feel absolutely awful almost immediately and then hungover for days. I stopped drinking for years, then someone accidentally gave me a proper 'half' instead of a non-alcoholic one and I tolerated it OK. So now I drink again, but I limit myself to one glass of wine or one 330ml or 500ml of beer with my evening meal. On holiday earlier in the year, I had 2 X 330ml and was sick as a dog the next day! Have you tried kidney beans other than red ones? Purely out of interest to know if it's the bean or the redness (if you get me) that you are allergic to. White kidney beans aka cannellini beans are quite widely sold. The same question goes to Midlands Eagle, if he is 'listening'.

We eat cannellini beans, haricot beans and butter beans as well as our "go to" which is borlotti beans and it seems to be just the red kidney beans that we both find indigestible

In 1998 i worked for a laboratory doing blood tests for food intolerance. For around £200 patients could get a definitive list of main food groups to avoid in order to reduce symptoms.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Allergies ones are still conducted using the grid system (these are around 90% correct mostly the common ones are correct but not always) This would be the same as claiming Glycemic Index is valid it's not. You should know better but I expect you followed the policies of what your lab set or the company you worked for. Look up the science if you doubt what I am saying. Intolerances do not increase white blood cells. Edited by grumpymort (12 Nov 2023 11.27am)

I hear the Board is allergic to spending money, sadly there is no known cure for this condition.

Kidney beans are not as bad in small quantities but I still avoid them just in case. Originally posted by YT

I did an intolerance test for sh*ts and giggles last year and apparently I have an accute reation to: Yeast My diet consists mainly of yeast and lactose, so I'm screwed when these finally "kick" in Whisky gave me really bad stomach pain when I used to drink it, now I understand why and I get incredibly bloated from beer. It didn't come up in a test but I can't tolerate anything with alcohol sugars in it, so a lot of protein bars and sugar free stuff is out for me. I had 2 protein bars with maltitol in it, without realising and was farting/on the toilet for most of the day

I was skeptical of these, but my fiancee did one to identify trigger foods and the day before she got her results, she was in excruciating pain after having a pizza. Her results stated she has an acute intolerance to rocket, which her pizza was covered in!
