It is for someone who plays up front!! Yes he works hard so you can’t dislike him, but giving your all for the shirt is a basic requirement, we need more quality from him in front of goal where it counts

Perhaps you should let Demarai Gray and Edouard in on that secret.

Johnstone fair enough but I question how long Ayew has been renewed for. He's one of our better players but will not be able to keep up the workrate for that long. He's not exactly young and we're entering another Luka situation. Wages we can't get off the books next season. I'm just trying to be financially realistic from the club's point of view. I always think, in general, the wages we pay are too high and the renewals not necessarily earned or right for the club.

He can only be in real goal scoring positions , if he isn’t playing down the flanks, trying to get our actual strikers in. Picking up the ball anywhere on the halfway line and transitioning. Tracking back to his own penalty box. Helping full backs out. Taking pressure off situations attracting three opposition players with his outstanding ball control leaving them no choice but to bring him down, pressure off everyone. Winning fouls ,yes, not everyone can do that ,it’s an art. After all that he still scores some of his chances, and you can’t say much more than that for the players not doing half as much in the all round as he does.. Worth every Penny we pay him , We need more quality in front of goal, maybe he could supply it if that’s all he had to do.

Is that definite or just click bait talking

Wasn't Meyer on something like £100k for basically sitting on his arse?

Ayew is 32 and has only signed a 1 year extension to take him to summer 2025 - at which point he will be 33.
He's also not on silly money.

Luka signed a 4 year contract when aged 28 so agree this was far to long - i would have preferred a 2 year with a 1 year extension option. It also made him one of the higher earners.

There were rumours. I believe he was actually on 60k a week.
