See how the pro Palestine demo in London goes today, starting near the BBC so don't use the T word

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

And, on a theme....

Over half the of these arnt Arab or related. Granted sympathy for the innocents is a human trait but they won’t give up their bedrooms when the incoming wave of immigrants turn up. Or jump a plane to protest to the actual cause of Palestine's issue; Hamas!

Excepting the odd nut job I doubt anyone protesting would have any sympathy for Hamas. This was all about the plight of the innocent people of Gaza and the response of the Israelis.

As I was in Israel only a month ago I feel more connected to these events than to some others. I saw young soldiers everywhere, many female, all carrying assault weapons and wonder where they are now and what their future is.

Whilst no one could possibly defend the actions and attitudes of Hamas I think it’s far too simplistic to place all the blame on them. Or to think that wiping them off the face of the earth, with the huge loss of innocent lives that would also cause, will be any kind of solution to the underlying problem. If that problem isn’t solved another Hamas will arise. You cannot imprison a nation for ever.

The problem goes back centuries. Two implacably believed incompatible truths that this land was given to them by their “God”. Gaza has Hamas. Israel has a government run by Netanyahu which depends on religious fundamentalists for its existence. There is not any possibility of compromise from either.

There are good people in both communities. People who understand tolerance and mutual respect. People who actually get along and recognise that cooperation will deliver much more than confrontation. Getting them into positions of influence is the issue. I don’t see how that’s achieved at present.

Maybe that’s where the protests can help. If they show western governments that none of what either side is doing is acceptable and that pressure on both is necessary to achieve a real solution then maybe they have a point.

Contrarian trolling is not against the rules of the board so best simply to ignore it.

Nor are alternative opinions. Which is surely important to those who believe in free speech.

It always amuses me to read people moaning about “cancel culture” here when attempts have been made in the past to “cancel” people like me!

Ignore away. That’s everyone’s free choice.

The sentence I highlighted sums up why the rest of your post is redundant.

There is only one simple truth that prevails. The West side with Israel because Iran and all the satellite organisations that promote radical Islam are our enemies in the geopolitical board game.
Innocent people of all creeds are always the victims in these power struggles. That is a terrible human tragedy, but there is always a bigger picture.
