Perfume....Ben Wishaw......a great actor that doesn't seem to get the limelight very much

He mentored George Cole from when he was a teenager. Next time you watch an Alistair Sim comedy chances are that George is in the cast.

George of course was famous for his Arthur Daly character which is just an updated version of his Flash Harry character from the St Trinians films.

George Cole was indeed in 'Laughter in Paradise' and excellently so. He played a young, downtrodden bank clerk speaking in 'Received Pronunciation' with no hint of cockney! That also included the film debut of Audrey Hepburn as a 'cigarette girl' in a nightclub.

Thanks YT i will, haven't seen it, my favorite comedy was "School for Scoundrels" also had Terry Thomas and Ian Carmichael in it.

I hope you'll get what I mean when I say that Mrs YT and I often exclaim "Hard Cheese!!" à la Terry-Thomas in the tennis scene.

The Man U squad of the 90s sure knew how to act.

i am surprised the Bill Nighy references above made no mention of him being an Eagle.

------------------------------

and another,

star of 'The King'.......Timothee Chalamet....seems to speak native French and the King's English. Was fairly handy at the combative arts to boot.

the sidekick in that movie, Falstaff.....also an excellent actor that most people don't know. He played the Pharoe in the Moses movie with Christan Bale. Joel Edgerton. Did a pretty good Northern-English accent, for an Aussie.

He was referred to as "Our own Bill Nighy", which I took to mean he was an Eagle.

and on the subject of 'The Eagle'.....Channing Tatum did a pretty good job as a Roman.

But surely the Oscar goes to the French-Algerian that was cast as a Scottish-Highlander speaking Gallic.....and he did an excellent job of it.

Respect to him for doing ALL his own stunts as well, I’ve watched documentaries on the making of the mission impossible films and it’s frightening what he does. He broke his leg in one of them and they left the scene in the film where he did it, once I knew this I watched it closely and you could actually see it snap when you look close enough

As you say, he really does give a film his all

yeah, it's where he jumps from one building to another and slightly stacks it.

I think Tom Cruise is brilliant and one actor that will be more appreciated when he's gone.

I think Ben Affleck is another who's underated.

And in 'Mary Poppins Returns' where he convincingly plays a straight man.

Rarely shown film, 'tom thumb' late 50s or so.
Russ tamblyn as thumb.
However theres a classic villan pairing of T-T & peter Sellers in it.
Worth finding online if youve not seen it.
