Think Potter would be great. De Zerbi getting enormous amounts of credit this reason, and rightly so, but he's building on a lot of the work that Potter put in.

Southgate's biggest skill is squad harmony and togetherness rather than tactical acumen. Reckon he'd want a bigger job anyway.

Both points very well made - I'd certainly prefer GP to GS too.

You can't change the way things are but you can change the way you are with the way things are.

It will be Paddy 100%, like it or not.

More chance of it being Paddy McGuinness!!

If it was going to happen for Paddy where the top job is concerned on a permanent basis it would’ve happened by now. If he does end up with a managerial job, it’ll be elsewhere lower down the leagues imho.

I think Howe will be next England manager after being sacked by Newcastle at some point this season.

No, it will be Potter.

I can see Roy being given another years extension if this season works out ok. He and Ray both seemed to be well liked by the players.
I don't think we would jump straight in for GS, Cooper could be a possibility but why didn't he take the opportunity before?
Did he turn us down or did we turn him down?
If not perhaps Tony Popovic may be sounded out, as we all know Palace love an ex player!

I think some of you lot are right about Southgate. He is at a lot of our games with Parish so it wouldnt be a surprise.

I still think the Greek Pavaroti owner at Forest who is as mad as a box of frogs will sack Cooper at some point so I would go for him next Summer.

Well, he does have three members of his current England squad to keep tabs on plus checking whether or not Mitchell is getting back to his best not to mention (potential) English players in the opposition. But that might be a smokescreen for the real reason (that he's going to be our next manager).

I feel Paddy is being seriously considered, the key for me is would Ray stay with him in the same role he currently has, if yes, it got a good chance of happening, Potter, who is a decent manager, but I fear 3 or 4 bad results and the fans would turn on him, not fair but more than likely, he has baggage

You may be right. I note he's given a couple of the in-house post match interviews.

Heavens to Betsy

Mr Hodgson has been awarded a contract until the end of the current campaign, we have only played 5 games accordingly the season is in its infancy and there is already speculation about who will be handed the managerial 'Reins' when he departs !

There was a rumour that Cooper was interviewed twice, offered the job, and then turned us down. Don't exactly know why but the rumour was ambition (transfer funds). I heard, rumour again, that Potter said he wasn't currently interested when approached and didn't even make an interview. It would explain the delay in announcing Roy.

Never heard either of those 'rumours'. Nor has any other Palace fan I know. You sure you're not just making it up as you go along?
No one knows who was even interviewed for the job except Parish, Freedman and the Palace board. None of them are likely to tell anyone else about it unless it becomes a done deal. Doing so would just make them look stupid.
These days interviews are carried out via Zoom calls or face to face meetings well away from prying eyes. No one's going to see Potter outside Sainsbury!

So what? That hardly means he is being considered.
