a) censor ALL abuse,
or
b) allow total freedom of speech...even the nasty.

What we cannot do is pick and choose which abuse to allow and which to censor. Try being a gay footballer in Jamaica ? Or an English footballer in Argentina.

will whoever shouted some off colour remarks at the match now be crucified ? meanwhile, an article below..... on a whole town that has given up on ever expecting the cops to enforce the Law....

You do realise that your right to racially abuse others or otherwise is the very definition of total free speech.

Rather obviously your right to free speech does not mean you can shout whatever you like with no consequence, however.

If you're saying people should be able to behave however they like without consequence, then you're an idiot.

And rather obviously, no, not all abuse is equal. Why? Choice vs. Permanence. Abusing someone for wearing a s*** fancy dress outfit is not the same as abusing someone because they are disabled, or disfigured, or have certain features that they were born with.

Thanks. You've saved me from having to post the same response.

Well said. Most on here have this guy hung, drawn and quartered and admit to knowing NONE of the facts.

'If'

Used in the second post. Perfectly valid to debate providing the proper context is used.

It's also not a stretch to consider this likely to be genuine based on more recent incidents, some clearly caught on camera.

Calm down.

Don't be so silly.

As for the facts; sure the full facts obviously aren't known because there's a police investigation. However two irrefutable facts are that CPFC:

1. is "incredibly disappointed that this incident took place"

and

2. has offered its "sincere apologies and support to the Wolves player involved"

What have other instances got to do with this one?

“You must be guilty young man, the chap last month was”. Ridiculous

Er

Read it again

'likely'

Some of the responses on here appear to come from a position of 'racism doesn't exist anymore' or 'it probably wasn't racist, he's just got carried away' or 'he only made a slitty eye gesture' etc etc. Other recent football specific instances are perfect candidates to demonstrate that racism is alive and well at grounds up and down the country, and sometimes emotion gets the better of people and the mask slips.

TBH it doesn't even need to be football related to be relevant. Football fans are a wide spectrum of society and racist incidents happen daily.

Besides, I'd be surprised if this was made up – the old boy in question would have grounds for libel and a great legal case. If it is, take them to the cleaners.

Jeez, you come up with a hell of a lot from an ‘if’ and a ‘likely’. I’d rather wait see what comes of this. If he did in fact say, ‘benchwarmer’ would you still lock him up?

Benchwarmer may have racist connotations.
