I can tell you that Plymouth are well up for this, are playing well and are expected to field a strong side. I am though a lucky omen. I don’t get to many games, all of them away, and haven’t seen a defeat for quite a while. Edited by Wisbech Eagle (27 Aug 2023 9.56pm) Have a good time. I think we'll win so fingers crossed.

We posters may need to rethink the line up.

Argyle fan here I write a piece on the Pasoti site for each game called One Game at a Time: You're Only Here for the Pasties Last season was the first time I did the whole season and we were Champions so it means I have to do it again! It is an unashamedly green tinted view of the world, looks at some historical stuff about the opponents and past matches , and is genuinely tongue in cheek rather than hostile.... It is also nice to have some fresh opponents to tuck into..... Happy to correct any factual inaccuracies you may spot....I have enjoyed the digging around the Allison years.... We're a friendly lot on Pasoti, so happy to have visitors post and chat......
Just leave Rak-Sakyi at home ....

With our next match being Monday it shouldn't kill us to put out much of the first team. I'd rest Andersen, Ayew, Lerma and Eze for sure. Roy might play them all but the U21 selection looks like some will be on the subs bench at least. I'd start Rak-Sakyi for sure. Would have started O'Brien but that's life.

Very good - quite amusing to be fair. Some good research although Millwall get far too much of a mention.

Happy Birthday - hope you don't enjoy it too much! Always nice to hear the thoughts of other sides. In my memory we haven't done well away to you but seem to remember us playing more in the lower leagues. Best of luck for the season - except for the Carabao Cup of course!

Alright my lover?! Great posts - both here and on your own site. I have a firm attachment to Argyle, as my mum was Plymouth born and bred. During school holidays, we came from Kent to stay with my grandma in Merrivale Road, and my dad took me to my first football match in August 1966 - a friendly at Home Park v Torquay United. Despite eventually adopting Palace, Plymouth has remained my '2nd team' and I look for news and results about them all the time. Stays in Plymouth during the season inevitably meant further trips to Home Park, including the first game I was allowed to go to without a parent. This was an England U23 international against Bulgaria. The following day my mum, sister and I went to Plymouth station to catch the train to Newton Abbot and the whole England contingent was waiting on the platform for the train to London, including Alf Ramsey and all the players, many of whom were sitting on piles of baggage. I got loads of autographs but sadly not Norman Piper's! You mentioned the Plymouth v Palace FA Cup tie in 1974, well although I couldn't get to that, I actually went to Argyle's match in the previous round, away to Dartford, which was a short bus ride from where I lived. A week prior to that had been the 3-3 Division 3 draw at Selhurst Park, where at half-time a group of Plymouth lads got onto the pitch at the Whitehorse Lane end and dribbled a plastic football the length of the pitch before 'scoring' in front of the Holmesdale, to almighty roars from the crowd. Sorry to remind you of it, but the return game at Home Park coincided with yet another family trip, so I was lucky to witness a surprise Palace victory, 1-0 with the Palace goal scored by Dave Swindlehurst aka 'The Problem'. Well it was a surprise to me anyway! I admit I had to stifle any thought of cheering, as I was standing with my dad on a 'home' terrace opposite the Mayflower Stand. Good luck for Tuesday (but not too much!) but sincere best wishes for a good season in the Championship.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

You a re very kind
Ironically I made the reverse trip and have lived in Kent for 25+ years....so Palace are (just) my local team....toss up with Crawley although I have only been a few times....I knew a couple of the Palace directors through my work. One sadly, Fergus McGovern died at a ridiculously young age from an aneurysm. I even sponsored a game their v QPR ( dreadful 0=0 draw where we had a free styler break a Guiness world record at half time for "on your back keepie ups" but half the stadium was off getting pies and bovril....
And I remember the 0-1 Swindlehurst (good goal as I recall...edge of the box top bin.) Not as bad as the 0-3 Wrexham home that was on Match of the Dat as well.....but bad enough. Have great season,,,hopefully after tonight you can concentrate on the league.,,,,, Keep an eye on Issaka if he plays.....one to watch....pacey direct, eye for goal and turned 17 last month.
