Fear that we won't face much weaker opposition than Sheffield in the 1st half. Shame that we couldn't capitalize on that.

We’ve been the better team however have really lacked any genuine spark or intent in front of goal. All been a bit lethargic and nonchalant. I’m not sure what attacking player’s difficulty is with staying onside it’s infuriating. You wouldn’t know Schlupp was playing if the game was 24 hours. We should win this, if they were to score it’s be fortuitous at best but the longer we don’t, and look as unenthusiastic as we have, the more it will feel inevitable.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Poor quality game looks like a relegation battle already, we have no threat up front, Eze by far the best player the pitch. In order to win this one we need to score and that looks unlikely plus our vulnerability to high ball in to the box, who knows what the second half will bring!

were you not singing his praises not long ago I’m assuming this was directed at me regarding Schlupp. I have always sung his praises yes, and have been adamant he is an impact player who provides a burst of pace and directness from midfield later in matches, with a wicked shot too. His starting on the wing is almost directly contrasted to my opinion on his best utilisation. I believe todays match is evidencing that. Him starting on the wing is indicative of not only our lack of depth but inability to resource the ‘First XI’. Makes both him and us look a bit silly/inept. Edited by Nicholas91 (12 Aug 2023 4.05pm)

It's hard not to watch this game and think...if only Zaha was playing. Eze has not had much support and is taking on too much at times. It's a bit worrying given how poor Sheffield Utd were. A million miles away from the free-flowing football at the end of last season. If Schlupp doesn't improve surely Ahamada or JRS needs to come on? Fair play to Edouard, he's running more than normal.

Schlupp's not managing to contribute much at all; moving Ayew to the left where he looks better and letting Rsk-Sakyi have a chance on the right might wake things up a bit.

This is what happens when you start a season two crucial players weaker than the previous year. Whilst other teams improve we flounder and rely on old faithful average players to try and pull us through. I am concerned we haven’t bought a winger and a striker, oh and a full back or two and a goalkeeper.
