Forest Hillbilly in a hidey-hole 02 Aug 23 4.43am | |

I watched a bit of the ladies games yesterday, and found it more enjoyable than the men's game. Less physicality (play-acting) and more emphasis and skill and stamina.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

The usual suspects already play act the whole time. England's first opponents were rolling around clutching their ankles for large parts of the game.

Didier Drogba was his will on the pitch. Other players, with higher morals ? sacked.

There is a cracking game going on between England and Nigeria at the moment. A high intensity high quality clash with little between the two sides.

Foolish red card and into extra time 0-0. Hold out and go for penalties?

Not a great performance by England, but countered by an excellent execution of the shoot-out.

We were lucky. Some real gutty performances, how Walsh lasted almost 120 minutes I don't know. She looked knackered when she came off. Next game we should have a big advantage. Then probably France in the semis. Glad we're in this side of the bracket. The other side is brutal!

I presume James is suspended now - which will not be helpful. She's looked like England's best player.

A very good win against a Columbia team who have won a lot of friends for the way they play. The Lionesses are certainly resilient. Semi-final against Australia this Wednesday 11 am. Quietly confident........

I confess that I watched a bit of the Australia v France match. I thought a few of the French ladies looked quite 'comely'. They may well be lezzers, though, but let's hope not.
