No doubting his quality, that was a very good season he has just had. Fulham know what he gives, and so do a lot of on lookers, but at thirty four, one year contracts have to make sense. Story is the only reason he isn't staying with Fulham is that they won't offer a two year contract, He was good for Fulham but I cannot see us beating their offer. Saudi Arabia is my bet

Great player and probably good for a year or two but I can’t see us out bidding Fulham or offering a 2 year contract. We seem firm on our policy of 1 year only for players above 30 (outside of Wilf) Would prefer the investment on younger players with potential sell on value

Would be a great talent to add to a squad which urgently needs more depth. Entertaining and with proven ability.

Think we need to blend the youth with a couple of old heads.

He would obviously be a stop gap signing, but say we got him on a two-year deal at 60k pw (apparently he's on 40k at Fulham) that would cost the club £6 million in wages. He managed 27 PL appearances last season with 5 goals and 5 assists, can play on both wings and is good at set-pieces. I was impressed whenever I saw him play last season, with him often looking like one of Fulham's best players. He's also settled in London. If Wilf has gone and with Olise injured this would seem like a very sensible deal to me as he can cover both flanks.

I would rather have had him for 1 year than Wilf for 4 An interesting opinion but not one without merit I'd say. In any instance, I'd rather we bring in some wide players who might actually cause a bit of excitement, even just the smallest bit, than announce other clubs' rejects, geriatric former stars or even just the resigning of our own players on financially illogical deals and announcing them as though they are news. Some say I ask too much, I say differently.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
