Guehi is 22, he has plenty of time ahead of him to get his move to a ‘big ‘ club.
Some on here seem to want to follow the Brighton model as if it’s easy to replace highly valued players with cheaper alternatives who are equally as good, if not better.
Firstly, we don’t have Brighton’s sophisticated global scouting network and secondly let’s see how their midfield functions next season in the potential absence of McAllister and Caceido .

I see no reason why Guehi should stay for at least next season which would also give an opportunity to see how Richards develops , including the establishment of whether the injuries he suffered before and after joining Palace are a recurring pattern or just bad luck.

I wouldn’t want to go into a new season without perhaps our best forward, Zaha, and our best defender, Guehi.
Sure we would have reduced the wage bill and have perhaps £60 million in the bank but the team would be weaker I would argue even if we buy the likes of Balogun and Schuurs.

Welcome back Dazza.
I think that if the recruitment is right i.e. as in the case of Guehi, Olise & Eze then the players can and will improve with their time at Palace (reflecting the good coaching and first team premier league experience) This in return means the players value will rise.
I suspect as a club we will from time to time (and lets say it is once every couple of seasons) we cash in on one of these type of players to help balance the books and provide funds to invest in similar players for the future.
We are not always going to get things right with the recruitment but as long as we get more right than wrong this should hold us in good stead for the future.
It looks like the academy is attracting good players so in time we will get a couple of these making it into the first team squad.
Having said this it still does not feel good to see the likes of Guehi potentially moving on. He was my player of the season last year and i thought he was becoming a very dominant defender and it was hard to remember the last time an attacker got the better of him.

Its a very good point. Statistically they were 2 of the best in the league, you cant really go out and buy like for like (unless you are Man C).

Their fans will need to trust the process.

Being told that there is still a very strong chance that Wilf will be signing a new deal now 60/40 he is staying.

This week will be big depends if any other offers come to the table.

While I never fully trust what is reported in the media, the sentiment seems to be that Wilf will stay if he’s convinced the club is working towards European qualification and showing some ambition.

That’s at odds with selling the likes of Guehi. I agree with what PatrickA posted on that subject.

I think the question is how much do we have to spend, if it is not a lot, then i think 60m clear to us, is more valuable than having Guehi, personally i would try everything to get Nketiah, who i think will become England's best CF in a couple of years, and temp Nelson to join him, he is one of the quickest players in the premiership, and having Richards, who i rate highly, and already turn down a 7 figure bid for O´Brien, if the kitty is low it would benefit the team as a whole more, just my Opinion.

So, Lanzo, what would you say to a deal with Arsenal that sees Guehi going there and Nketiah AND Nelson coming to us? We sell Mateta to Genoa. We spend what money we have on whichever CB Freedman feels is our best option?

Great News about Wilf Dazza, and indeed welcome back! Any news on the Manager front? This seems very mystifying. Why no announcement?

I would take Nketaih and 30m, Nelson is available (at the moment) for a free, you dont get many chances for a bidding war that we have, its no good saying he is only 22, he is the best young English CD at the moment, in 2 years time another couple of young CDs may come along, and then Guehi´s price drops dramatically, you have to act while he is hot property or you miss the boat.

Well, if staying with us is going to be a 'better than nothing' decision by Wilf, I'd like to see the club turn round and say 'well yes, we'd love you to stay but the offer has now dropped to £xxx per week lower than what was on the table if you stayed 'cos you wanted to'....... it's called negotiation folks!

isn't Wilf currently on his stag?

Therefore, i doubt things have moved on - either positive or negative.

Absolutely Becky. There has to be a price to be paid for deciding to stay simply because there are no better offers on the table.
