Neil Ruddock.

I was told he was unable to make his debut , in a friendly , because we didn't have shorts big enough for him.

Could someone confirm?

Trevor Aylott is one who usually gets a lot of votes on this subject, although he did score 12 goals in 53 appearances, apparently.

Got to be honest, I stopped going for several years after the Mullery debacle, say for the odd game, so that era of players was a rare sight for me.

Yes it does make you wonder about the two we’ve got up front now, also Benteke who had a spell of scoring 3 in 50 odd games. Although to be fair to those three, Aylott was 2nd division

Craig Harrison was shocking... In more recent Premiership times I'd have to say Jordan Mutch... Just awful.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

It's either Bobby Bell (who once ricked his neck washing his hair BEFORE a game) or Valerian Ismael.

Per Bartram, that'll take some beating.

Yep. Absolute cracker. Signed from Greenock Morton. Bert Head always fancied Scotland for a deal.

Much as I’ve always hated him for sparking the riot at QPR, we’ve had a heck of a lot worse up front. But I sort of get what you mean, I was gutted we lost Kenny Sansom, but getting Clive Allen in return did soften the blow, because he was brilliant in his first stint with QPR and I suppose I was expecting more. Trouble is he didn’t stand a chance really, the free fall had begun!!

He did get a perfectly good goal struck off at Coventry, though. I talked to Mick Coope (sp?) some years later. He was standing on the post when he said Allen's free kick whistled past his ear, hit the back stantion and rebounded into play, far too quick for the referee to register what had gone on. Coope said he had never seen a ball struck more cleanly in years and years of professional football.

We actually felt so sorry for Brian Bason the stick he took, a mate of mine pinched one of his mums old bed sheets and made a banner for him. It was always going to be tough for him replacing the brilliant Doris Hinshelwood
