Keep Roy, upgrade right and left backs, get a 3rd striker in.

Well, its news to me but am not under the impression we have two strikers already ....

Roy will revert back to type if he's allowed to stay on next season, of that I can be sure. He's done well to get 9 points against the rubbish but we should thank him and say goodbye in May.

I rather agree. I think keeping Roy would leave us treading water for another season and avoiding the job having to look for a manager who might have longer term prospects. OK, I know the words "long term prospect" and "manager" are contradictory but you know what I mean.

New manager, preferably well versed in tactical variation, playing on the front foot and good with youngsters. New DOF. New full backs, preferably like Cafu and Roberto Carlos. Another midfielder, preferably like Zidane. New centre forward, preferably like Romario.

I'd settle for a clone of Haaland.

Southampton have tasty fullbacks. And in excellent Palace tradition, one of them has been injured for a year.

i've always quite like Kyle Walker Peters. Better going forward than defending and is a little small but might be a cheaper option than AWB.

The biggest area of concern IMHO is replacing Wilf. That LW role in our 4-3-3 is critical and there is no obvious replacement.
Ayew and OE can play there but it is not their natural position.
Eze is the other option but he is looking much better is a No10 role.
Maybe he could play there if we re-sign CG?
Hopefully Dougie has a list of targets as let's face it we've known Wilf would be leaving for quite a while.
Reisse Nelson from Arsenal might be an option

We are not playing 4-3-3 we are playing 4-1-4-1, its completely different, designed to give Eze a free role, Doucoure just sits, and the other midfielder, Schlupp at the moment only goes forward when Eze comes deeper, a very disciplined role, Gallagher would be a disaster in this set up, only in place of Eze would it work.

I disagree, Roy has never had the Quality of player he has now, and he knows how to use them, if he wants it a 12 month contract is ideal, and reassess halfway through.

I hate when others post this however 'who else?'.

Let's be honest, our search for the 'take us to the next level' manager has not gone particularly well and unless the club are able to identify a perfect, very solid option, Roy with this current squad is not a bad proposition, not bad at all.

That leap will probably have to be taken eventually however I hold little hope for us getting it right immediately so would happily settle for Roy, for now (including next season).

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I Believe Charlton are still looking for the "next level" manager after Alan Curbishley..........

I am happy with mid table finishes and the odd cup run. Europe would be a disaster for a club like us.

the difference between 433 and 4141 is wafer thin IMHO - in a 3 man midfield you always have a holding player, and the 2 wide players play the same role in both formations. If i was being pedantic i would agree we are playing more of a 4231 formation.

If Eze was asked to move left to replace Zaha it would free up a more central role for CG, which was my suggestion which you completely ignored.

I'm sure you disagree, but football's all about opinions
