I always find it odd that so called fans are so keen to see arguably our best ever player go to another club.

Just plain weird if you ask me.

I will be very sad when he leaves, arguably our best ever player and loyal to Palace. I hope he finds a good club to help in his quest for Europe.

Two good things about it all is that we no longer have to give Man United a 25% cut of his transfer fee and his £130,000 weekly wage can be used to top up what we pay Olise and Eze to encourage them to stay with us.

Man and boy Palace since my first game in 1948 sitting on my dad's shoulders

I think you'll find that it was Zaha himself who wanted to go to another club by putting in a transfer request a few season ago. If that is his wish, who are we to hold him back?

Exactly , and i think it was the right decision not to let him go because we were so reliant on him, which we no more are . He never rescinded his request or appolagised for handing it in . We only want players at our club that want to be here , its the Palace way .

I will always be grateful to Wilf for spending almost his entire career, and certainly his best days, at Palace. I would be delighted if he stays, albeit in a less pivotal role than before. He has been fantastic for Palace and dedicated to the Palace cause, even if his head was understandably turned a few years back. Clearly we are not so reliant on him any more (but still a very influential player for us), but in my book he's always welcome here.

This x 1000. Wilf hasn't really shown any loyalty to Palace. First chance he got, he shipped off to Man Utd. Didn't make the cut there...and it was US who took HIM back. We gave him a platform for a few seasons...then when his star was at its peak, he continuously wanted out. Even to the likes of Everton. Now he's not resigning a contract. I'd argue he's shown us no loyalty whatsoever and the fact he hasn't moved on is because no club has really shown an interest at the level he thinks he's worth.

Because times change. I wouldn't take Nigel Martyn back, either. Because he's now in his 50s or something.

While he's been out best player for the last decade, he no longer is. Most fans are unanimous in that they'd even stick with Ayew if Wilf was fit for Everton.

Time to move on.

Agree there actually.

We have always been his 'fallback' however it has been mutually beneficial, he has stayed in the Prem for a long time now as a well known, well paid, week in - week out player where he failed in other ventures and he has repaid us on the pitch.

Time moves on as football does and if he does not wish to resign then fair enough and equally I think it is time we learnt to live without him in any instance, especially given he is less and less able to do what he used to and therefore of lesser value to us/occupying a space we could/should fill with another player.

Wilf will always have my upmost gratitude and I wish him all the best however the club will always be my first concern of course. It is what it is and if he goes it will be what it will be...

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

It's funny that we're all writing him off but he could still be here next season. Nothing's happened yet. I've always thought he'd go to but when I consider it now, if we keep winning and his options are West Ham, Villa and Everton plus some Saudi or Chinese clubs, he may as well stay with us.

100% agree. IMO he IS the best player ever in 55 years watching Palace. All these comments saying we don't need him now we're firing ...what happens if Eze Olise etc get injured? Yes we can play without him and the afore mentioned are a joy to watch at times and outstanding talents but I bet these anti Wilfs are the first off their seats when he's turning defenders inside out like he did the other week before the injury. I feel privileged to have seen so many great players at Palace but I don't think I'll see a player with the magic of Wilf in my remaining years. The guy has carried us for years and deserves his legend status wether he stays or not. Let's have a statue Steve!

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong

Very true

Apparently,Arsenal may be interested in signing him on a 'free.'
