I understand that sentiment I really do and have no criticism but for what it's worth, there are some things just outside of your control. I am mired deep in despair and anger atm however my chosen stance is to give it my all in supporting Palace. As one sage poster I read this morning stated, I do not support Parish, any manager, player of other individual. I support Palace, and intend to do so to the best of my capabilities going forward. Toxicity has also been mentioned, I've noticed this and again empathise with it too. Similarly however, my choice is to embrace the camaraderie and shared experience with other fans and try to convert it into as positive an energy force as possible though that does not include ignoring the objective reality nor damning others for doing so. I opt not to partake in any inhouse squabbling herein and refuse to dictate to others how they should be feeling on things. We have a break now, time to reset and recalibrate hopefully, and I actually look forward to the battle that awaits. COYP
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I just hope you are wrong Willo. Roy is a gent and a wonderful man and done wonders for the club. He has far more to lose than gain and I don't want the vitriol to be aimed at him and tarnish his reputation. At best he could be brought is an advisor to be available to help a new manager and I certainly wouldn't be adverse if he was brought in to advise on recruitment. But that should be the minimum. If SP has asked him to return, I hope he stipulates that he will not be stepping in as a temporary manager. We need to plan for the future. I believe our destiny this season is already shaped. A new manager isn't going to change the deficiencies in the squad. It's now whether we have enough already and whether there are 3 teams even worse that will decide our future this season. The last chance to make a significant change was in January. As said we should have had replacements in mind before we sacked Vieira. Originally posted by Willo

I was a big critic of Roy, but am fine with him turning up at the training ground this week. The debate about the rights and wrongs of having to resort to going back to Roy can wait until another day.

Whilst in principal I think what you're saying is sound, I think we do need a permanent manager now. Parish is not the quickest in making management decisions, especially if he feels he has plenty of time. Past history has shown this. Season will end, he'll take 2-3 weeks holiday and then get around to the management recruitment process. We'll get a new manager in mid July. If we stay up, we have to probably get in at least 5-6 new players. Could be a hell of a lot more if we go down. I want a new manager to have an input on new signings and plenty of time to bed them in. We'll once again be starting the new season ill prepared. I want us to learn from past mistakes. I guess much depends upon whether you believe in the fabled new manager bounce and whether in 10 games someone coming in can make a significant difference. Both Roy and Sam Allardyce took several games to have an impact. Personally, I'm not sure we've left replacing the manager too late. We'll still have the same ancient right-backs, one left back needing to rediscover his mojo, ditto two forwards and a few others who really should have been replaced. It won't be a overnight fix. Especially as confidence is probably rock bottom. Probably sound like a broken record, but if we stay up by the skin of our teeth, and the Board think they have got away with it. I dread to think what we'll be like next season with them making the same mistakes of taking ages appointing a new manager and getting only 3-4 new players in the week before deadline day. Burnley struggled all of last season, but I can’t help feeling Palace have put themselves in just the same position sacking Viera, now.

I think the fact he is even being discussed just shows that SP didn't have a plan which is a disgrace. Looking at Leeds and Saints who both sacked managers in the last month and both struggled to get a replacement why would it be different for us? I think Roy can get them more organised on the training pitch and he is a big believer in 11 v 11, something bizarrely not many managers do . However, Roy had no impact at Watford so maybe his time is up - he is 75 after all. For all the Roy moaners when he took over last time we were in a mess. The last 3 or so managers had loved Punch despite it being pretty clear his influence in games was fading. After 1 game he replaced him with Luka and immediately we looked more solid.

I respect Roy for what he achieved and this MUST at the most be a short term appointment . That said I think we will fail as Watford did with bringing in Roy…..I hope I am wrong of course. This squad is not a Roy Hodgson squad, we lack a target man and the players he knows are no longer as quick. he will go with experience and I suspect Lokonga would make way for Luka. If he comes in I’d love to see a defensive 4-2-3-1 with zaha up front. Just 3 wins would do it. We will give away possession and have our backs to the walls. Break fast and rely on wilf to save the day if he can feel the motivation. Whatever happens I’ll back the team

The present situation has exposed just how culpable our majority (uninterested) owners are with regard to the situation we're now in. Three investors who own the majority of shares in the club have a failing CEO working for them whose actions have damaged the business (and threaten to considerably reduce the value of their investment if we are relegated) yet they are doing precisely nothing. In any normal business, the majority shareholders would remove and replace the CEO. At Palace, it's business as usual. Thus, a man who in ten years has been unable to hire and adequately back the sort of experienced manager who could take the club forward long-term is, unbelievably, yet again being left to hire a new manager. Vincent Kompany has already pretty much said what anyone credible and capable in the game thinks of the idea of working for Steve Parish. We'll hire Roy because he's probably about the only manager out there who'd say "yes". Roy Hodgson is a retired seventy five year old.

Your views on Parish may be valid but the issue is not at this moment in time getting rid of Parish but getting a manager in to to get us winning games now with a view to building in the future. I guess your view is Parish is not capable of selecting that person.COYP

I think Roya the most logical... none of the other supposed candidates would get a tune out of a team they don't know....have no affiliation with and can't work on them in the short period of time available and change a whole ethos. Roy may not play amazing flair football but he will do his upmost with the team at hand in being solid at the back, counter attacking football of which by now the team should be used to. He knows the team, the staff, what most of the players can do...they will respect him and Lewington can at least train a team unlike the last shambles.Lets face it: the passing couldn't get any worse, the link-up play was non-existent ( I would lose count of how many misplaced passes they were all culpable of when going forward) hopefully Roy has a bat to whack some sense into Edouard. I still reckon he will lead us out of it and in the Summer Favre or Bielsa will be offered the job.
