I have visited the Palace of Westminster on a few occasions.

In general when visitors enter the 'Commons' for the first time they are somewhat surprised by its size, expecting it to be far larger.There are 650 MPS and I believe there are only seats for about 400 of them.

Hence the phrase "standing as an MP"

Don't know if it's going to be introduced again after the refurbishment but if it does, the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) tour is really interesting albeit Knackering
