Whilst I'm not too pleased that he's out, it will give us an honest assessment of what life will be like without him. It will force us to play a different way which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing and it will let us see if anyone else is going to step up.

I'd be tempted to fill the middle with energy, Hughes, Doucouré plus ideally a late addition... then play Eze coming in from the left and granted a little more freedom with the others behind him. Olise on the right and Edouard up top.

If we can build on the solid foundations of the last two performances then I think we can get through this season... then onto the summer transfer window where we'll need to find about half a squad LOL!

Wilf being injured has happened before and Edouard did ok out on the left. It’s not a great situation however. Ayew apparently played great on the left wing in the World Cup and there may be some mileage in playing a midfield of Doucoure Hughes Olise (right) Ayew (left) with Edouard up top and Eze given a free role.

Given that his game predictably involves waiting for the ball to come to him, then either running down a dead end or cutting in to have a tame scuffed shot rather than looking up at team mates in better positions I don't think it will be to much of an ask to replace his effectiveness. His poor form this season is evident, and maybe he has been carrying an injury, in which case he should have been rested earlier. Times change, and no individual is bigger than the club.

it will be the type of injury, if it is likely to be a re-occurring type, then it would effect the outcome of any contract.

it's a hamstring injury - he has no history of hamstring issues so it appears very much a one off, so not sure what your point is.

However, as a runner the hamstring, once damaged, cannot be run off etc and immediate rest and ice is required. I was disappointed the Palace medical team allowed him back onto the pitch.
A minor strain can take 3 to 4 weeks, so allowing him back on would only make it worse and lengthen the recovery time.
Palace do own an oxygen chamber which speeds up injury recover times though so hopefully he'll be back mid Feb.

A commendable and entirely plausible scientific analysis. has to be.

We now have 2 energetic midfielders along with the pace we already had in the team. Dare I say it but with Wilf out we might see a more pressing attacking team.

I love Wilf but he does have a habit of slowing the game down this will be an opportunity for PV to see what a Palace team post Zaha will look like.

I still want Wilf to stay but it's about time others stepped up.

Hope Manchester United have the same opportunity as PV - a Palace win at Old Trafford will be very welcome.

I’m kind of hoping (in vain perhaps) that he makes the bench for Brighton. To be honest you get so many subs these days that you might as well name him to keep them guessing. It’s the kind of game where conventional wisdom goes out the window.

To be honest , either way we won’t know until Sunday , they will keep it quiet as would give Leeds a boost if it came out he was out and vice versa they might be expecting him to be out and then we play him , will be mind games

“This is a crisis, a large crisis.... in fact if you have a moment, it’s a 12 storey crisis, magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24 hour portage , and an enormous sign on the roof saying “This , is a large crisis” - Edmund Blackadder

I reckon he has played his last game for Palace . I hope im wrong but think by his reaction on Sat , it doesn't look good . In a way it might be a good thing in the long run , not the injury of course but we have to get used to playing without him sooner rather than later. We won on Sat so have all week to prepare for life without him against Leeds . Will be interesting to see what the set up is without him .
