Wilf's adding goals in greater numbers to his game has been impressive. But the striking thing in all these statistics is that for a player who essentially has the skill set of a traditional winger - taking on and beating a man then getting the ball into the box - his end product is, by these statistics, extremely poor. I would argue that a player who does what Wilf does should be averaging far more than an assist every six or so matches. He seems to have lost his mojo of late.Hope its temporary.

More useless/usefull facts this season mins/pitch goal/game assist/game It would seem that we have much more chance of creating and scoring a goal if 3 out of Wilf, Edouard, Olise and Eze are on the pitch and no chance if Ayew, Mateta and Schlupp are on the pitch

I believed that we would attain a draw and predicted 1-1 on HOL. Whilst we have collected draws at home to Newcastle,Man Utd, Brighton and Liverpool in recent weeks, the dearth of creativity and shots on target is really concerning. Apropos Mateta I heard someone refer to him as a "Poor man's Benteke"

Am I old fashioned to say I'd like to see left footed wingers on the left and right on the right, all this slowing things down to get on your favoured foot irks me,

We always use Inverted wingers? I saw briefly against Liverpool Olise swapped over to the left, would like to see this more often as I think this would help our forward get onto a good cross before the defence has time to get back into position, mixing things up a bit might help us score, I remember Zaha and bolasie regularly doing this in games but rarely now do we try this.

Apropos Mateta I heard someone refer to him as a "Poor man's Benteke" I've done some statistical research of my own, Willo, and can confirm that you have correctly predicted the results of Palace's last FOUR matches - 2 of them (Brighton and Brentford) with the correct score. Your run would have been longer had you not over-reached on the optimism by predicting a win against Newcastle. Mateta may well be a poor man's Benteke, although it has cost an excruciatingly large amount of money - well beyond penury - to borrow, sign and employ him!
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |
