If Andy Madley had deemed it an elbow incident he would have reached for the 'Red' card. It seems as though he viewed it as an attempt to prevent Mitrovic bearing down on goal.

Perhaps the referee made a movement with his arm suggesting it was an arm across Mitrovic preventing his progress to goal but Tomkins assumed that Andy Madley was suggesting it was a deliberate elbow to the face. Pure speculation of course.

Of course there is a difference between thrusting an elbow into the face or raising one's arm and the player makes contact with the elbow.

I'd strongly contest the assertion they are 'Palace fans' Spidey.

I am inclined to hypothesise that too many halfwits spent too much of lockdown watching 'The Football Factory' and likewise on DVD and have returned to the real world even further deluded.

To expand upon this, anecdotally, I'm still young but I do remember the dying embers of the old days, the early 90's, where I recall some real fisticuffs and seeing some blokes who I would very much describe as 'scary/rough/brutish' etc. indulging in aggro outside of Selhurst Park, both home and away fans.

As a contrast, a few times this season I have seen what I would regard as 'mobs' at Palace. For lack of articulation, I would describe them as 'embarrassing'. They look as though their mums made them sandwiches and paid for their clothes before they set off to cause trouble.

Now I understand where football violence/hooliganism is borne from, tribal behaviour is very natural and appealing to many young men. However, what I see today is a joke and a very, very poor imitation of years past. I mean this with all sincerity, I would not hesitate to jump into about 10/15 of these types now, without too much fear of my physical condition. As to how that might arise I have no idea, it's the furthest thing from any desire I have, least of all at Palace. It's one thing to say 'it has no place' which is correct, but another entirely to say this is cringeworthy and a nuisance at worst.

As for 'racial abuse', that might constitute something that would stir me to action. I can't accept that at Palace. Firstly, I would not accept that sort of behaviour from anyone ludicrously claiming to be a 'Palace fan' and secondly I would actively promote their removal/barring if not having their heads kicked in. I would hope, as with many, Palace is such a huge part of my identity and I would not let the identity and experienced be hijacked by such peoples.

I sit comfortably in the Glazier's now, mainly for the old man's comfort, so have not been privy to any of this (it's actually quite lovely there, I recently took pics of/for some FC Koln fans who were on a tourist trip after I got there a couple hours early one day) but I sincerely hope it is a fad that dies out, if nothing else, due to it's farcical existence.

Again, the term 'Palace fan' seems inappropriate for me. Nothing really endears me more towards another than their supporting of Palace, beyond family of course. If you want to indulge in football hooliganism by all means be my guest, but do it so it has some reasoning behind it, other fans perhaps.

Are you more, at least, 'aware' of this lot Maple? Are they quite young? Perhaps we should form a firm constituting of HoL members? We could get Willo to do our PR and social media. That ought to disorientate and scare quite a few off before a punch is even thrown!
