I doubt the BBC have the budget to outbid the various Pay Per View providers on live sporting events these days - ( at least not any live sporting events worth seeing) PPV has definitely "come of age" over the last few years. Originally posted by Badger11

Probably not in which case why do they spend a fortune on promoting sport that is on other channels? This is a left over from when most sport was on the BBC. Edited by Badger11 (23 Dec 2022 9.03am)

I guess that it allows them to feel that (at least for the moment) they are in some small way still "relevant" to the sporting world - Originally posted by Badger11

A few candidates in this from Ian Drury. Personally I'd like to see this as our National Anthem. This one's for Julie, who we love There are jewels in the crown of England's glory Frankie Howerd, Noël Coward and garden gnomes All the jewels in the crown of England's glory Nice bit of kipper and Jack the Ripper and Upton Park With Billy Bunter, Jane Austen Allright england? All the jewels in the crown of England's glory Somerset Maugham, Top Of The Form with the Boys' Brigade
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

I blame Putin for the $hite TV we get these days. It seems to be just combinations of the same fourth rate 'personalities' on panel shows. Edited by Henry of Peckham (23 Dec 2022 10.28am)

Two Tone & some of the old Punk stuff. Jeez I was on Youtube a while back & they had some sort of Two Tone festival somewhere & it was absolutely ball clenching to watch people in their late 50s & early 60s dancing to 'One Step Beyond' Etc

Funnily enough I went to The Butcher's Block in Queens yesterday to stock up on a few Items & amongst the stuff I bought I noticed that the Lyle's Golden Syrup tin & the Paxo Stuffing box definitely seemed smaller or are they just smaller because they ship abroad?

Which they never handled particularly well. The test cricket used to be on the BBC but it always had to play second fiddle to horse racing and it was a relief to all cricket fans when they lost the rights to cricket to Channel 4 who subsequently lost it to the much deeper pockets of Sky. They do have certain rights to the dreadful Hundred and end up covering the same matches that Sky are covering. I always watch on Sky as i can't abide that awful Phil Tufnell who has made a lucrative career out of being stupid
