PVA was insanely good.

As a LB he was pants imo.

I've never seen a full back who's allowed so many crosses to come in uncontested. I was delighted when he left the club, to which, imo again, he never really committed.

Not a true palace player but more of one of modern football's 'guns for hire' "You pay me and I'll go there". I never sensed any real Palace loyalty.

You're not alone in that view. I was glad to see the back of him. His defensive positioning was - to say the least - suspect. Yes he made some good contributions going forward but nowhere near enough to make up for his defensive aberrations.

I have a dear friend and we have had a few conversations about the evolution of the role of full-back since the days when he played in this position as a professional at league clubs in the 70s and 80s.

Modern full-backs have to be extremely fit and hard-working, willing and able to chase back after a loss of possession to protect the areas outside the centre-backs. They need to cover long distances to chase the ball down after an opposition switch of play.
The modern full-back also has to be agile, fast and smart with their defensive positioning, and therefore able to defend effectively in one-on-one situations.

Sadly, everything that TM is not!

TM’s days are definitely numbered as a starter.

I never forgave him for showing Knockaert onto his left foot that time.

I am curious to know other peoples views on TM. In my view he is a massive weak link in the side and offers little in defence and even less going forward. He just appears to be really out of his depth and teams target him. The one good attribute he did have was his pace but even that appears to have left him.

I really hope we are targeting a new left back come the summer.

Roy seems to be getting a better tune out of him but he's still targeted, not the old boys in the other corner.

Who we got at U21?

In my humble opinion we should be much more concerned about our right back situation than our left…

Adarmarola the left back option. Promising but loan spell at Coventry curtailed. Not sure we have an obvious at right back.

I don’t agree. I actually think Ward is a better player than Mitchell.

Was decent vs Leicester, and if anyone was targeted it was ward not Mitchell, he'll come back to his best I'm sure.

I think that's an insane POV.

Not the best player on the planet, but works his socks off, has tightened up some mistakes.

Not sure why he is getting a hart time
