I am surprised by some of the lavish praise here for a bang average player. This is the best football league in the world and yet he gets high praise because he runs around and makes a nuisance of himself? As a forward or an attacking midfielder you have to look at the contribution towards winning matches and in that respect he is very lightweight. He is a good player to bring on 70th minute if you want to hold a lead or give a right wing outlet. A game changer he is not. He doesn’t add enough to be a starting right winger and we need another Gallagher to play right midfield rather than a bit part winger/forward filling in. The only thing I would say is PV doesn’t have a lot of choice in the midfield department until Jimmy Mc is back or we buy another midfielder, so as desperate as it is to say it, he is probably one of only a couple of choices we currently have.

I have to say although that reads harshly it is tainted by my subjective love for Ayew so I have to say I think it’s objectively correct all round. I can’t help but feel at this level, and wanting to go higher, the sentiment for a player who the fans like has little place in the very challenging and often fine margins at the top echelon of English football. I think the truth is that whilst he is worthy of praise for many reasons we do actually need a lot better than Jordan if we have any ambition beyond perennial survival. He doesn’t offer much goal threat, is a stop gap for under-resourced positions, doesn’t really ‘have a position’ and you really need more from an attacker than just winning free kicks. It’ll be a very sad day indeed if I were to ever ‘have a go’ at Jordan but purely for footballing reasons, I relish the day he is no longer considered a likelihood for the starting XI.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

JA is playing for Ghana atm, (HT 0-0) v Switzerland. Y/day, Ivory Coast played Burundi & won 4-0, Wilf in squad, but, didn't feature even with the 6 subs, IC play again on Sat.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

He proves his worth during those scrappy away games where we lack control ( wins fouls high up/ good ball control / strong press) but it's the games we dominate he struggles to impact. As if he thrives being the underdog.
