None of our lads were not close to selection is the harsh truth. Only Wilf has had the quality this season (but not the nationality) to play for England. Choosing Ivory Coast, and signing his huge contract at Palace...such gargantuan career mistakes. Both favoured Palace

Southgate boringly went with his favourites McGuire and Phillips both hardly played this season. We know how it will end in the quarter finals and out on penalties.

England do not look inspiring defensively. Palace players are too good for this squad but they will give it a go. I think a quarter final place.

I've no opinion on it - just interested in yours - although his decision has of course made him unavailable to the Eagles due to Africa Cup involvement.

Really unispired with the WC squad ,too many players out of form in it . Maddison is the only bright light but probably will only be used if we are chasing the game . We have to hope someone will break out of Southgates straightjacket tactics and light the place up but I fear we will be bored to death before a decent side gives us a good hiding ,1/4 final at best Come on England !

Potter obviously likes him due to the amount of opportunities he has had this season but from what I’ve seen of him he’s been nowhere near the standards that he set when he was with us. A very strange selection indeed.

Seems like as long as you belong to a top premiership side you will get selected for England. Gallagher got in last season because he was outstanding for us then his form dropped and he wasn’t selected. Back at Chelsea now means selection. Sterling has also been poor yet he will start for England whatever?
