I for one am not getting carried away on a wave of emotion.
In terms of our wins, 4 out of 5 have been by the odd goal and include victories against struggling Southampton and Wolves and Leeds who were not in the best of form when we played them.

Injuries in central defence could prove exceedingly harmful given our backup options, indeed injuries to key players could be damaging.

Not an unexpected response

So, what happened in those consecutive games at home to Soton and away at Spammers in the last two PL rounds?

Also, last season our win at the Etihad was followed by a home win over Wolves as was our win at Soton by a home win against Watford

Top 10 and a good cup run I will bite your hand off.

Arsenal, City, Newcastle, Spurs, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool will all be higher than us.

Leaving 3 places for top 10. Brighton will probably get top 10. Leaving two places between teams like Palace. Aston Villa, Leicester City.

I think Vila and Leicester will do better. Fulham could continue to do well. Leeds you never know. West Ham will come back with the money they spend.

So top 10 is very hard even but if Palace get that what a season!

We also ("literally" ) won consecutive games this season against Oxford and Villa. Yes, one was a cup game but a game nevertheless.

Using those criteria, we can add Stoke + Wolves and Everton + Arsenal from last season.

16 to 1 with BetVictor for Palace to finish top 6!

I would put £1,000 on, if I was you with your blind optimism.

I got and took 23 to 1 for top 6, at the start of the season a whole fiver
they were offering only 3.5 to 1 for top ten finish, the year before they were offering 11 to 1 for top ten i had a score on but the Everton comeback screwed me

Leicester winning the league has screwed football odds …..16/1 is ludicrous considering the size of the teams above.

I could never back against Palace but would lay those odds all day.

Incidentally, I would rarely back Palace because of crippling superstition!

Today just shows the small margins between success and failure. One minute we are “discussing “ a top 6 finish and the next we play like relegation fodder. Hey ho

What's the common denominator between the 3 away games at Leicester, Everton & Forest ( other than the fact that they were away fixtures) is it us, the players we selected, our game plan, luck of the bounce, or what the opposition are doing / their game plan ? & if its the opposition, why couldn't Wet Spam sort themselves out ?

For me the one thing that I find disappointing & it was prevalent in all of the 3 games that I mentioned above is when it seems as though we aren't even trying -surely effort is one of those things that as a professional player is a non negotiable -

I really hope that our backroom guys & PV work out what needs to change so that we can at least get our share of the points from games like that -

The common denominator is that virtually every club in the middle or tail end of the league has improved their squad since last season whereas we've weakened ours...and it was paper-thin to begin with. Look-at our wins this season and tell me which you describe as convincing.
