From my own perspective, the 'cost of living' crisis is happening on two fronts. Whilst noticeable items like fuel, energy and food prices are all going up above the rate of inflation, in many cases, my own wages are supressed at well below the rate of inflation. This is happening to co-workers and other staff across the board. Particularly where 'minimum wage' is now used as the default starting wage. And I really don't care for comparisons with other countries. The current government have been an absolute shower.

One of the biggest problems is that most people - the media included - don't understand inflation and therefore don't really know what they are talking about. The sentence I've highlighted couldn't be more incorrect. Taking unleaded petrol as an example, the pump price on 24 April 2023 was SIXTEEN PERCENT LOWER than than on the same date in 2022. That's annual price DEFLATION of 16%. The Dolphin stated that he's still waiting for prices to fall. He needs to get out more; I could list scores, if not hundreds, of food prices that have fallen.

Cost of pints is ridiculous. rarely do I go out drinking anymore. I have saved a fortune. I also shop in Lidl which has also saved me lots.

i understand inflation. This is about what I experience, not what the nationwide statistics suggest.

I get out a lot as it happens and I can tell when my spend has gone up but when I have nothing extra to show for it.

It might be how I percieve it, having not touched a drop of the firewater now for over 10 years but the price of booze in the supermarkets seems to have gone much lower now where as the price of booze in the pubs is just beyond silly. Bought a box of 18 cans of Carling Black Label just to have beer in the house to offer guests and it was £10. How on earth do they sell it that cheap?
