When I was diagnosed with an incurable illness in 2013 I didn't think I'd still be here today. I'm 75 in 6 weeks time and, thanks to some intensive chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone replacements and 2 bone marrow transplants, managed by a fabulous team of medics, I can still enjoy a whisky, a good laugh and a decent game of football played by my beloved Palace. And even reading the stuff that you wonderful lot contribute on this forum. Fact is chaps, we all think we're invincible, I certainly did until 9 years ago. I expected to go on for ever, but now, every new day is a bonus. Fair play POG. At least now you have been able to see some of the best spells in our recent history. I wish you all the best of health for as many years possible sir!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Ive known a number of men & women who have gone well before their time - Mid 40s, One of them was 40 fit as a butchers dog, barely an ounce of fat on him, didnt drink or smoke, raced karts (so kept himself fit) one evening he goes into the kitchen to put the kettle on, has a heart attack & is dead before the ambulance arrived.

Given that I was born during WW2, and that according to the Bible our allotted time is three score years and ten, I have to accept that I am well into injury time. I'd prefer the ref not to blow his whistle quite yet - perhaps Fergie can help.

Going from the average of people we all hear have died (actors, musicians, famous people etc.) the new 'three score and ten' is 'four score and a bit more if you're lucky'
