I was under the impression it was >10% so 34 in a 30, 45 in 40 etc however where I’ve got that from I’ve no idea. I was also led to believe that most cars with a digital display these days will slightly exaggerate for your benefit. Could be urban myth territory there again however. I believe this to be correct. ps I understand what your figures mean

I’ve got to do a lovely speed awareness course in Chatham to avoid the points which is costing me £92, I don’t mind paying the money, but having to brave going to Chatham is a big worry

Out of interest how did you manage that? It’s easily done, if you weren’t aware it’s a 20 or any roads in the Croydon borough are, unless it’s a main road. Many people drive at 35+ on 30 roads, especially when keeping up with cars in front, which is what people generally do, especially as more and more people drive. What is, or was the original protocol for making a 30 road a 20? There are some really odd ones, and very long too, which when overtaking happens, is more dangerous Chaldon Way, Coulsdon valley (fgs) It would probably be better to advertise on tv and radio and on signs, the danger of tailgating, on any roads, especially these, when the driver isn’t anywhere near as talented as they think they are, seat reclined back as far as possible with right hand on top of steering wheel trying to look the bollox. Hoodie or cap or both optional.

I got done on the M25 on the way back from the Oxford game going 65mph in a reduced 50mph zone. Was 11:30 at night, almost nobody on the road and they reduced it to 50 I'm sure just to catch people out. Got a NIP through the post. It will either me speed awareness course or £100 and 3 points. Waiting to hear back what they're going to do. So annoying to be done for speeding by going less than the usual speed limit for the road.

One camera or average speed over the whole section (they time cameras or reg plate readers) so you can slow right down if you think you’re going to get an average speed too high)

I know as did a speed awareness for just that and asked why it was 20mph when it’s Barriered all the way across. Not many like that apart from bridges and old town centres I would guess.

It's a money-making excercise to which I keep falling foul. didn't think this was allowed either, thought they had to be clearly visible - it's a deterrent afterall!

Some of those roads don’t have any pedestrians or pedestrians walking out into the road. Many ignore the 20 limit until some want to overtake. Enforcing the 30 more would be better. In real side roads with houses and cars parked on both side of narrow roads I get it. (Doesn’t stop some, including parcel couriers) Longer, wider roads I don’t get.
