I was very much under the impression that being a scumbag was a birthright as a scouser with race of little requisite.

Anyone remember Little Boy Blue about the Rhys Jones murder. Nothing changes.

Don't ever think that criminals will assist the police.

More likely they will hamper the investigation by throwing in names of their rivals.

It's a well worn mantra now but we ned to have the police doing what they were set up to do.

About 2% of serious crime is successfully prosecuted, think about that, 1 in 50.

Robert Peel said the sentence was not the main deterrent, it was the likelihood of being caught.

Can we stop talking the " tackle the cause " stuff, criminals make money and that's why they do it, it's greed not deprivation.

A teenager making big money selling drugs is not going to stop because a youth club is available where he can play table tennis.

Radical responses are needed and when there is some semblance of law and order restored we can look at the bigger picture.

There will always be criminals doing bad things

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Policing should be seen.

It's not rocket science, you need a bloke or two in rough areas, who looks like he can handle himself walking a beat.

But the snowflakes turned Policing into an admin job that's more concerned about dancing with the 'oppressed' than it is dealing with real crime.

They also haven't kept their numbers up to anything that what would be realistically required.

Indeed - I remember the Dixon of dock green days (just to paint a picture) but since those times pretty much every government, every few years have cut budgets & numbers on policing, NHS, Military etc etc etc, its a bit like taxing booze, fags & the motorist on budget days they are easy targets & the main services (Police / Military / NHS etc) have limited ability to fight back against the cuts.

One day their will be a tragedy which we are ill equipped to deal with & the Government will sit there culpable but denying that it was something they could have done anything about - (Covid for example)

Are you sure of your facts there, or are you merely ranting? Taking the NHS as an example, in 1960 it employed just over 500,000 people. It now employs three times that number. Expenditure on the NHS was 5.1% of GDP in 1980 and was 11.9% of GDP in 2021.

Sadly, I agree with all of that.

I can remember what looked like troublesome youths in Catford not long ago literally laughing as they swaggered away from an (guessing) about 5ft4 blonde, late 20's woman in what very much looked like dress up as she tried to corral them. All of that a stone's throw from the biggest police station in Europe.

Also, another anecdote of little substance but hey, I do remember venturing as far afield as Croydon one day on a mischievous mission with pals (all of us from Lewisham, age 13-15, about 6-8 of us). We came down from E.Croydon train station and as you enter the town centre there were two coppers (again guessing) both about 6ft2-6ft6 and built like bouncers. I actually recall remarking 'that is what they should look like' as if any deterrent was going to work, it was that!

I don't think height and build make any difference now. Kids know their rights and know that coppers can't do anything to touch them or they'll get done by their own complaints authority. Think it's more that, which has led to zero respect for the police.

As a teenager in 70s/ 20s in the 80s, I remember the SPG (or the police rugby team as it was often reffered to)
If they arrived as back up to regular plod, no questions were asked
, you shut up & moved on or they shut you up & moved you on.
A bit of that would not go amiss now.

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

Yep, it's common sense the deterrents should look like something that can actually deter.

Common sense is why it doesn't happen.....We gave the keys to the loons decades ago now.

Why do scum carry knives ? Cos they are far more wary of other violent scum. Not at all afraid of the justice system, nor fearful of the cops , nor afraid of judges.

Scousers truly deserve ethnic minority status. If it involves a handout, they'll definitely take it. Or just take it anyway whatever it is.

In this case the community is the perpetrator but also the victim. I guess that's completely new territory for them.
