Optimism ??
After the dreadful split squad pre-season & the awful opening run of fixtures, that is pushing it.
The pretty limited transfer activity in terms of players to go straight into the starting line up plus the fact we cannot defend & judging by the dire Arsenal performance, we cannot score, do not inspire confidence.
The tedious sideways passing across the back line with an ageing goalkeeper, lacking a number of the basic skills, doesn’t inspire confidence either.
This could well be a game where the bindippers could score at will☹️.

We actually played very well against Arsenal, but it's never handy to allow the opposition the freedom to attack for the first half an hour, after that we matched them everywhere and most naturals watching would say we deserved a point, Fulham showed clearly how to upset Liverpool and if we can replicate our performance after that awful Half an hour we'll be able to give them a good game, I go for 2-2.

I really hope our manager, coaching staff and, above all, the players do not go into this fixture with the negative attitudes exhibited here.

With what attitude did they go into the Arsenal game, do you think?

At least playing on Monday night it might be a bit cooler than Saturday afternoon if you are playing a top team, 30 in Manchester on Saturday afternoon, 19 and possible light rain showers Liverpool Monday night. They didn't look much against Fulham but we don't have the likes of Mitrovic in attack to ruffle their feathers. Don't expect a pasting, think 2-0 to them, would be 3-0 if Mane was still playing, although his replacement Nunez looks a handful. COYP !!

Agreed. Although the start against Arsenal does not bode well. The contrast to how Fulham approached their game was stark. Is Guehi the captain now? He is a quality player, but hardly seems the type to rouse the troops. Not that there is an obvious alternative in the starting eleven

I'd prefer it really hot. A lot of our players are of African heritage - they have a couple of scousers who, being basically Irish, cannot stand the heat at all. Monday night suits them better than us. We're losing sharpness, they're gaining fitness. They needed the break, we need a game.
