So Spain have introduced a ban on air conditioning below 27*c in summer and heating above 19*c in the winter amongst some other radical plans. Good old EU, I’m sure glad we left that club as that would now be us. It’s due to the war in Ukraine they say; personally I reckon it’s more brainwashed politicians carrying out their duty to the planet. Happy holidays

Happy holidays If there isn't enough of anything to satisfy the demand, one of two things will happen. Either the price will rise to the point where only the richest can afford it, and the poorest don't get any, or everyone agrees to share what's available, rationing supply on need and not price. Whether in the EU, or not, we remain part of the western world and it makes much more sense to try to share things than exclude the poor. This has zilch to do with responding to climate change, and much more to do with Putin using energy supplies as a weapon. So doing what Spain is proposing makes perfect sense. At either 27 or 19 deg we won't die, or even be particularly uncomfortable. It's not the best, but it's far from the worst. In the situation we are in, we are all going to suffer some impacts. No politician can avoid that happening. So get ready. It's on its way. Liz Truss or not!

If I put the heating on at 19c or below, I would have it on 360 days a year. At 27c - I would use air conditioning if I had it. That would be a record day here.

This is a short term need, whilst we wean ourselves off a dependency on Russian oil and gas. Your attitude to my friend is extremely misplaced. It isn't just "her" evidence, but that of a huge group of dedicated researchers using sophisticated analysis techniques. I knew her personally so was able to assess her integrity, motivation and honesty. I was as convinced by her as much as it is possible to be. Man made climate change is real, of that I have zero doubt. It is serious and demands action if we are to avoid a major catastrophe. What those actions need to be are political decisions and aligned to technological developments, but don't doubt the need to respond. We must.

I get we are having an effect but my concern is the amount of impact against the potential alingside our pain financially and mentally. Where is the best case scenario WE. All we are told is the worst case so all the governments act on that. If I drank 6 pints and drove I’m likely to crash; doesn’t mean I will. Lots of examples of every day life and maybes but oh no.

because the Ukraine War, Brexit, Covid has caused all these high prices,...... "Saudi oil giant Aramco has broken its own record with a $48.4bn (£39.8bn) profit for the second quarter of 2022. It is a 90% year-on-year increase and marks the biggest earnings for the world's largest energy exporter since its public listing three years ago." (BBC website 14 Aug 2022) Something bad is on the horizon for these profiteers. They need to stop massively taking the Pi55.

All part of the great reset. It’s a controlled demolition of our economy. We have a system that’s based on pulling up debt and military power and both are now waning.

By the way, I would look at stockpiling energy in any way you can for this winter.
