I'm not saying I want Zaha to leave, but I actually think McNeil would create more chances for his teammates, albeit he might not carry as much threat in terms of goals. Last season he was forced to play a very defensive role but after Dyche left and the shackles came off for a few games he really stood out for me. In a team where he would have a bit more creative freedom I personally think he'd thrive. This is not to say I think we will sign him, but I would certainly be happy if we did. I also think he could play the Schlupp role on the left of a midfield three if needed as he has very good defensive stats and works really hard, plus he could also probably play left wing-back in a 3-5-2. To progress we need more quality in the squad and he would add that. If the figure is 15m then that would be a snip in today's money for a 22 year old with the experience and quality he has.

I recall having a conversation about McNeil with a learned gentleman probably 3 years ago.He informed me that the player was learning about the defensive part of the game when Burnley were not in possession and that he had added tracking back to his game.

If (and it's a big if) we are interested in McNeil, it seems more likely that he'll be a long term replacement for Wilf when Zaha leaves whether that be this window or next year (assuming Wilf doesn't extend his contract). IN the interim McNeil could, as mooted by an earlier poster, fill the Schlupp role etc.

He wont play on the left if its 4-3-3, we play mainly inverted wingers, but he could play left WB

He is now a CM, according to PV He still plays the odd game on the wing. Burnley at home was one such game.

According to twitter Burnley played Newcastle yesterday and allowed McNeil and Cornet to play 45mins for Newcastle! Quite bizarre, but if true I'd think they'd both be closer to the Saudi.. sorry Geordie Boys.

I remember a game against Burnley, our 4th game of the season, Frank De Boer was in charge, we had a player in a palace shirt who played a fantastic 25 yard pass into the path of the Burnley striker for him to score (couldnt have been a better pass if Burnley had paid him for it) FDB was sacked soon afterwards although to be honest I think that decision was taken before the game.
