Luka, Schlupp and Hughes are not adequate longer term replacements for McArthur in my view.

What, after following this site for 20 years? Not quite, still got 2 months to go, still, if you have to resort to time insults, you've(imo) lost your argument. Sad really.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I don't expect him to feature much during this season as I think he'll struggle to get up to match fitness again. Yes, he's been a great servant for Palace and I shall miss his Finally, whilst I wouldn't go so far as Lanzo in his response to the poster, I would agree with him that it wasn't a case of McArthur 'deserving' an extension.

Yes, 'still' meant generally as a player in his 30s running rings around players in their 20s. Which has been the case over the last few seasons. If the club had given him a three-year contract, I'd raise an eyebrow. But for me, he's still well worth a year extension. And aside from his capabilities on the field, he's by all accounts a big character off the field. Spent time as captain last season. Players like that, who set high standards, are worth having around. One year extension was the right call, for me.

He just needs to stay fit - maybe he was rushed back a little early as the same injury has flared up??

When asked about McArthur, Vieira said they should know the extent of the injury today but hoped it wouldn't be too serious.

McArthur is a big talker on the pitch and leads by example as well. Until his injury last season he was one of our best players. Since then he's struggled to get a run of games. I definitely think a new deal was the right move even ignoring sentimental reasons as he exemplifies what a footballer should be and that is important in an increasingly youthful squad, a bit like Noble was in the last few seasons at Spam.

My mock-question was made in jest, and the poster to whom it was addressed, NEILLO, made it clear by his response that he took it in that cheerful spirit. If my post saddened you, I'm sorry.
