He deserves a good send off, not only did he keep us afloat, he also did a great job in taking Watford down

I agree 100%. My comment was alluding to the bad spelling in the thread title.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

He did a decent job and got well paid, all i hope is Watford get a good hammering, Roy was a mug to take the Watford Job, could have finished with pride, not relegation.

I think he deserves a warm reception because he's a local lad and kept us stable for longer than our financial outlay perhaps warranted. I think it's a shame he took on a suicide mission at this point in his career though, unless it was to give him the opportunity to slowly poison Harry the Hornet?

Keeping Watford up when Hodgson took over was mission impossible, they needed wins and with their squad and his tactics that was a tall order. So why did he take the job?

You're right to mention it. Watford have won 4 away (Norwich, Everton, Villa and So'ton) and drawn 3 away (Newcastle, Burnley and Manchester Utd.).

(I'm standing in for Willo

After Saturday's euphoria I hope we don't struggle to get a draw.

In any case I intend to give Roy a big clap.

He took the job because he's like the old boxer who doesn't know when to retire and always wants to take one last fight.
Furthermore, in the paper today Ray Lewington is quoted saying that both Roy and him want to continue but have heard nothing from Watford as to the club's intentions going forward.
I think the silence speaks volumes.

Even Bill Shankly hung around the Liverpool training camp after he retired from Anfield. They had to politely ask him to leave sometimes.

Think you’ll find a few in the Palace squad will be bang up for this and see Roy off with a royal hammering - Wilf for one - get the impression there’s not much love lost in that relationship..!!

IMHO - Roy has an undeserved reputation of being a decent Manager - he is in fact a Manager with very limited in formations and style of play..!!

He proved that with both England and Palace..!!

Noticed yesterday when Watford’s fete of relegation confirmed - Ray Lew did the MOTD interview - Roy nowhere to be seen..!!

If memory serves me correct didn’t he do exactly the same thing after the Iceland debacle - resigned and tried to avoid doing any press interview on the basis he had resigned..!!

He also did the same for us in a game where we got hammered - can’t recall which one specifically.

Roy’s record at Watford is even worse than his predecessor Ranieri and Watford have gone down without a whimper.

There’s an argument that says that we under performed under Roy given the resources he had it his disposal due to his unwavering commitment to “Roy ball”..!,

Look I’m not saying don’t give him a great send off - he obviously deserves that - but I just think there a lot of “rose colored Roy glasses” about just how good he actually was..!!

I for one am so happy we now have Vieira and give Watford a royal hammering on Saturday.

COYP

100% agree with everything here.
