Wonder what Derby fans will make of this? Basically taking their best two young prospects for pittance. Personally I’d be delighted for him to join palace.

If this story is true, then another shrewd piece of business from Dougie and Co.

I know what you mean and in a 'Neil The Hippie' ideal world it would stink, but it's dog eat dog and a pecking order I'm afraid.

I think he's been obtained for the first team/23s squad but I don't think he will be a regular and more of a bench next season.

Quite right, he's only 18, cost nothing and won't be on a silly wage. Def. one to hopefully ease in.

People seem to get carried away about players they'd probably never heard of a few weeks ago.

If we sign this guy I don't think we are talking about an Eze/Olise type signing, both of whom had played many more games (Eze, 100+; Olise 60+). Ebiowei has made a total of 15 appearances in the Championship and scored 1 goal (Plange has slightly more impressive figures).

If it's true that he will be offered a five year contract then clearly Dougie and Co. think he is a very good prospect but prospect is the operative word.

Don't get me wrong, I think it would be a good signing and fingers crossed it will turn out to be a great one.

I was thinking the same - Let him prove himself in the U23s. We have a lot of attacking Talent in our squad - from what I've seen would play in a similar position to Olise, or even Eze, both of which I Cannot see this guy uprooting immediately.

If he's good enough, stick him in the Cup games and see what happens.

Yep, the guy isn't going to come in as an automatic starter.

We are 'buying' potential here, and even though he's only played 15 games, we would have seen enough to know he can mix it in Mens football.

PV has done well this season slowly integrating Olise and then Eze. So I suspect we'll only see glimpses in the first half of hte season whilst he learns the ropes.

In days gone by if a player had offers from Palace v Man Utd to sign for either team the chance of the player signing for us instead of Utd would have been about 1 in a million. It does show how far Palace have come that we are now more attractive to promising young players that United. The future is going to be a bright one for Palace and good luck to Malcolm all providing the signing goes through without any snags.

From what I’ve seen of him he looks a Terrific addition... a cross between Olise and Eze.... not a bad combination....

Or better still on loan to a Championship club for a season

Reminds me* most of Wilf but not much end product.

If that comes, and he is so young that it may, then he would be with a fortune. But that last 1% I always the hardest part.

I must say. I was a little surprised we didn't loan him back to derby for the year. maybe they can't afford him!

That could still be a possibility, but unlike the Plange transfer, we have not had to do any dealing with Derby. As he is going to be out of contract he is free to speak to any clubs without his current club having any say in it. So it makes sense that we sign him and then we can decide where he goes on loan if that's our desire.

Echoing what others have said it is a great indicator that he chose us over Utd and a sign of the belief in project Palace. From what I've seen of him he is not as good as say Olise but he is younger and cheaper. One to develop so don't expect him to be a first team player. Looks fit and physical, lots of running and effort. Does have to look of a raw Zaha in that he has tricks but never looks totally in control of it, yet this could be deceptive.

He could be our next Bolasie. Needs to be playing so I think a loan to a Championship club makes sense
