I would be inclined to suggest that finishing between 6th-10/11/12th should be the clubs '5 year plan'. Anything beyond that is of course an achievement. I'll still find it hard to envisage wanting for more than finishing 17th+ with the odd scalp or cup run as a bonus. We look set to achieve that this season. What do you expect? The odds are massively against us, we never going to win the league, unless we have a massive injection of investment from somewhere. Everton have spent over a billion pounds chasing the dream and are languishing below us. Watching Palace over the years has always been either promotion or relegation battle, now we haven’t been in any relegation problems for about 6 seasons, people are getting bored. Personally this season has been more enjoyable as the style we play is more entertaining in the whole and we are moving in the right direction.

Money doesn't guarantee success, but those who have success have money. We don't really, at least in comparison to probably at least half the PL. Last night was one of the few performances this season where I've been frustrated and a bit bored. By comparison, last season I only saw a few performances where I wasn't bored or frustrated even when we won. Given we are unlikely to be playing CL football or winning major trophies it is nice to at least have some decent football to enjoy. For me Vieira has managed to find a balance between entertainment and pragmatism. He has a good team around him and generally remains calm but with an air of authority. For all the niggly fouls and diving, Bruno Guimarães showed last night what a lot of money can get you i.e. a tough tackling, ball playing defensive midfielder.

He was very good first half, but seemed to run out of legs 2nd half and resorted to throwing himself around.

I think with the investment, it is a poor season so far 10th is the least i would expect, 4 places up, from that outlay, do you think Textor is going to put another 90m in, he wont, we will be looking for free transfers and bargains unless we sell, Edouard is awful, Gallagher is not creative, poor passer, and poor tackling hence 57 fouls and ten bookings, he has a fantastic engine and can finish, a midfield of Kouyate, Schlupp, and Gallagher is unbalanced. Which says more about you than the club.

The season has been much better than originally thought as we have been playing attractive football and if it wasn't for those daft goals that we gave away in the 90th minute earlier in the season we would be much higher up the table

I believe that at the end of this season we will have achieved more than was generally expected. Edited by Willo (21 Apr 2022 1.14pm)
